Every big news story gets an immediate flurry of posts. Everyone wants to be the person to break the story, I guess.

DU and GD have always been that way. It harms nothing, really, and soon goes away. There's no real need for a separate forum for such stories. I just skip the threads that are duplicates. Look right past them.
