Gay Republicans released a cringeworthy video praising Donald Trump for President's Day

Fun fact: President's Day isn't an actual federal holiday. It's George Washington's birthday. Some states make it more inclusive.

The Log Cabin Republicans released an awkward video to honor George Washington’s birthday by praising former President Donald Trump. The video is for “President’s Day,” giving them a way to shoehorn Trump in, but that isn’t actually a federal holiday.

The video features several queer supporters decrying their adoration for the most viciously anti-LGBTQ President in the nation’s history.

The usual suspects appear in the video, including the group’s spokesperson Charles Moran, journalist Chadwick Moore, and the blogger “Brokeback Patriot.”

The Log Cabin video can be taken about as seriously as President’s Day.

“Donald Trump was the first president in American history to open the tent of the Republican party and accept LGBTQ Americans and for that, I am eternally grateful,” one supporter says. The party’s 2020 platform endorsed ex-gay therapy, opposed marriage equality and opposed LGBTQ civil rights.

I've known some Log Cabin Republicans and they all have serious issues. I even went out with one, but that was about 25 years ago. When someone tells me now that they're a LCR, I find someone else to talk to. It's just not worth the time and aggravation.

I just assume they have money, because that is the only reason I can think of. I have gone to Detroit Pride Fests before where the Log Cabins had a booth set up. I started getting into it with them, asking how they can support Rethugs or Trump, until my partner pulled me away.

People believe what they want to believe. I know some gay Republicans. You know what they have in common? They are all viciously anti-transgender. Boggles the mind.
