In a small town north of Ft Worth. Power comes on every two hours, runs for about an hour. Internet for the first time in 3 days only when power is up. Water comes and goes often enough to flush the potty every day.
This sucks a big one.
Did my first wellness check. She has no means of communication if the power is off and haven't heard in 24 hours. Two possibilities; no power or something serious. If no power and temps at -1f for 24 hours same difference. Cops said she's okay but phone is f**ed.
Sending now while power is still on

(15,937 posts)It has been so cold. Be sure to keep extra water handy, even if it is snow to melt it might come in handy. Keep warm and safe. We piled on so many blankets which really helped a lot.
We were able to charge our devices yesterday in my Equinox. Which has heated seats so toasty buns while charging up!

I hope you're able to get some good photos without freezing. I haven't taken any due to it being just to damn cold.
Keep WARM as much as possible. I've been layering clothes as well.

(14,559 posts)Some nice pics as the sun rose and skimmed across the snow and some neat sculptured snow drifts.
had jeans, sweat pants, sweater and sweat shirt, heavy coat with hoody, wool socks I bought to ride my Motorbike in winter and heavy boots/gloves. Froze may ass off. Managed to walk a half mile to get some interesting shots.
Webpage update is looking like Wabi Sabi; the fleeting beauty of impermanence and imperfection.
We'll see if there's enough bandwidth to update on Friday or Saturday . . .

(6,522 posts)You should fill every container and pot up with water while it's on. But, I know you know that.
Got nuthin else for you. I keep picturing a long, long extension cord from my place to Texas. I'd surely do it if I could.
I don't know what could have been done. Industrial-sized generators? Not sure what is wrong with the state. Where is FEMA? Could they do anything, anyway?

(7,447 posts)I'm a lucky one with no power breaks, but water is on and off. Just up the street, power has been out for at least two full days. Grocery stores are emptying out with long lines just to get in.
