Update from texas

Power came back this morning after being out 49 hours. No water. Filled buckets before the storm in case so we can flush toilets. Have also melted snow. May have a broken pipe, no way to know until the water comes back on.

We gave food and should be ok until things melt. Others aren’t as lucky.

This whole debacle can be laid at the feet of the gop. The top officials of ercot, the power grid operator should all be fired and possibly arrested. The top gop officials who were all gloating when California had power problems last summer should all be tarred and feathered. For real.......

The top gop officials

They told me it was AOC’s fault...the then freshman Congresswoman from NY was too powerful for all the TX GOP officials to stop..

Edit - oops, I forgot...Obama’s fault, too...Thanks Obama!

Time to shake 'er up and drain that swamp, you know the one that has no bottom!

North Texas is generally colder so I’m not sure if any of their streets are passable.

house NOW. If the water comes back on with the intake pipe open, it could damage your house and belongings. Shut it off and then open it slowly when water service is restored, while you have another person watching where your pipes are run, i.e. the attic, garage, etc. Good Luck!

Glad you’re safe and hopefully on a path to safety. Will you be reminding everyone possible that this storm’s damage was made worse by the Repugnant Party? Hopefully this message gets out and stays fresh In everyone’s mind. Texas is not a red state, it’s a heavily gerrymandered and voted suppressed state. Remind everyone that the Repugnant Party always make crises worse than they have to be and longer lasting than they should be

Tarred and feathered and ridden out of town on a rail. Don't ever say that on twitter, though. I tweeted that sentiment to Lindsey Graham and my account was suspended for two weeks for "harassment and wishing bodily harm" to the delicate little snowflake that is Lindsey.

It is as foreseeable, and thus as criminal as the initial non-response to COVID. Jail who's responsible and maybe pound some ethics, common sense and actual thoughts about their fellow citizens into extremely hard heads.

Most plumbers here won’t even answer the phones because there phone is ringing constantly and they are full up for a long time, at least into March. My huband finally found a guy recommended on Yelp who says he will come in a week. I checked his Facebook page and it was a nightmare. I was going to post a link but he has now completely scrubbed it. But let’s just say from what I saw, no way would I let this guy in my house. So we will have to find someone else.

I would suggest you go ahead and get an appointment now, and then cancel if you don’t need it. Good luck.

The leak we know of is in attic space with no access, so we will have to create a”door”

one place it could be possibly leaking is in the attic. i have a pex pipe that runs thry my attic to an outdoor spigot. if its busted ill just cut it where it enters that attic and install a ball valve between the 2 sections. that way i can shut off the supply to the spgito and the leaky pipe section.

the other possible leak is to another outdoor spigot,my plan is basically the same

the pipe in the attic appears to be fine as far as i can tell. ive gone up there several times and no water leaks.
I have one other pipe leading to an outdoor spigot (its buried ) but i wont be able to check it completely until the ice/snow melts this weekend
theres no pools of water on the surface i can see though
