This is Texas' Katrina

For almost a week now:

Millions of Texans are snowbound and freezing, without power AND water. They are shitting in bags

and they are running out of food. Their plumbing is fucked up, and they can't charge their phones.

They can't even go on the Internet or call anyone to complain.

They can't drive or walk to the stores - which have no water.

Hospitals have no water to feed their boilers, so they have no heat. Doctors and nurses are also shitting in bags

And their piece of shit governor Abbott goes on TV every goddamn fucking day to spew lies and bullshit statistics

Republicans will lie about the real death toll. Be prepared

Katrina was a terrible hurricane. This storm in Texas is minor in actuality. It's been worse this past couple weeks here around Chicago. But, we are prepared for it.

This "should" be a wake up call for the citizens to have basic survival materials. If some of them can stock up on guns for an event, they should have cold weather implements as well.

What I don't understand is some of the preppers. They're supposed to be prepared to go live in the wilderness with no running water and electricity. They claim to have stockpiles of non-perishable food items in their homes.

Overall it was an OK winter. The last 3 weeks was when we got hit with the snow and colder temps. I have about 2.5-3ft of snow. Nothing compared to certain regions of the US.

That's not fun to be outside in that for long.

OK I just checked and it was -23 in 2019 here, so I think I was actually in a colder temp than that years before.

There are plenty of people in Texas who are doing just fine, even without power, heat, and water. They're chilly but not in any danger of freezing to death. They have food and water on hand and some way to heat it up (Sterno, camp stove, fireplace, whatever) They have full tanks of gas in their cars so they can run the engine to warm themselves, and power inverters so they can charge their devices. Etc.

The same thing happens after every hurricane. You always hear about the people who are struggling to survive, but you never see any stories about the many people who have everything they need, and are suffering from nothing worse than a lack of air conditioning.

I thought about this too. Bad planning and a total lack of concern for the average person who might not have a fireplace or can afford backup equipment or extra food supplies, just like those in Katrina had to suffer. And repubs in charge of it all.

Remember, it was The President, at the time, that was blamed for that, not the Governor.
Very few people even remember that Governors name.

At the time, Louisiana was run by Democrats, yet we all blamed the Republican President. Do we really want President Biden blamed in this scenario? After all they were both weather induced.

for those who are in the middle of the freeze zone..I am all for that being exposed.. President Biden has reached out to them and offered help.. has not sat on his hands and blamed others.. not sure what you are wondering about??
