(31,261 posts)Why dont people think through this stuff? Cruz is on the run, people showing up on his doorstep to protest takes the spotlight off of him.

(21,620 posts)300,000 people on January 18, 2003 in DC to protest Bush Jr's intention to invade Iraq. Rode with friends without a functioning heater for 70 miles during the night to reach buses going to DC. The night time temp was 3 degrees.
Buses were warm, but standing still to hear speakers, not so much, although the temp in DC did reach 18 degrees by about 2 pm. So cold and stiff that my legs could barely move along the protest route.
Then did it all over again coming home.
Anyway, those folks in Texas are going to be cold whether they show up to protest or stay home to shiver.

(35,747 posts)that many people are just trying to keep their heads above water, trying to find food, taking care of children and elderly. I think it's great that anyone showed up for a protest.

(30,765 posts)So I speak from experience.
Sometimes we had to have warming stations. Sometimes we protested in shifts. Sometimes we just stuck it out. The last cold one I attended was a protest over the kids in cages.
It gets harder to do this as I get older. Often, I have to find other ways to express my outrage. Yes, it is great when anyone shows up.
