People take their kids out of school for vacation. It's a thing. Countless schools were either closed all week or on remote learning or some of each, and many won't be open by Monday.

That's not the issue. The issue is that he ran off in the middle of a crisis because his wife was cold.

But Cruz acts like the vacation didn’t affect his children’s schooling. It did. According to the kids’ school, his kids will have to quarantine all next week or get a negative COVID test, the results of which could take a week or more to arrive.

It galls me that he’s using his children as an excuse for his own selfishness and his utter disregard for the people that he allegedly represents.

That’s school policy (or so I read earlier today). They’re missing school all next week no matter what.
