Tony Perkins: The Pentagon’s Move To Weed Out White Supremacists Is Really Meant To “Push Out Christians”

Via email from hate group leader Tony Perkins:

A memo from President Biden’s Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin directs commanders to conduct a “Stand-Down to Address Extremism in the Ranks.” The goal, ostensibly, is to flush out people with extremist views from our nation’s military. But the memo never defines “extremist or dissident ideologies.”

The order relies upon the theory that the ranks of our military are filled with white supremacists based on the Capitol riot on January 6. In a stunning act of cynical political theater, Democrats have turned the Capitol into Fort Pelosi due to baseless claims of an ongoing right-wing threat of violence.

The military does a good job weeding out those associated with the KKK or other white supremacist groups. The only thing this order accomplishes is to open the door to hazy definitions of a broader, and more sinister, interpretation — targeting social conservatives.

The Supreme Court has twisted the meaning of “civil rights” to include abortion, same-sex marriage, and transgender ideology. This means that a servicemember who attends a pro-life event could be hauled before a court martial as an extremist.

Once again, it looks like Democrats are set on overplaying their hand. The most effective recourse for those who are concerned the military will push out conservatives and Christians is to vote.

Never forget that Tony Perkins was once sanctioned by the FEC for buying former KKK Grand Wizard David Duke’s mailing list for over $80,000 and then lying about it. Or that he once keynoted the meeting of a white supremacist group that calls black people “a retrograde species of humanity.” Or that he endorsed Trump’s racist birther claims.

Tony Perkins heads the Family Research Council, an anti-LGBT hate group located in Washington, D.C. Perkins has a sordid political history, having once purchased Klansman David Duke’s mailing list for use in a Louisiana political campaign he was managing. In 2001, Perkins gave a speech to a Louisiana chapter of the Council of Conservative Citizens, a white supremacist group.

Born 1963
Group Family Research Council
Location Washington, D.C.
Ideology Anti-LGBTQ
About Tony Perkins
Since joining the FRC, Perkins has taken the group in a harder anti-LGBT direction, using it to publish false propaganda about that community and contending that gay rights advocates intend to round up Christians in “boxcars.”

In His Own Words:

“While activists like to claim that pedophilia is a completely distinct orientation from homosexuality, evidence shows a disproportionate overlap between the two. … It is a homosexual problem.”
— FRC website, 2010

“Those who understand the homosexual community — the activists — they’re very aggressive, they’re – everything they accuse us of they are in triplicate. They’re intolerant, they’re hateful, vile, they’re spiteful. .... To me, that is the height of hatred, to be silent when we know there are individuals that are engaged in activity, behavior, and an agenda that will destroy them and our nation.”
— Speaking to the Oak Initiative Summit, April 2011

“The videos are titled ‘It Gets Better.’ They are aimed at persuading kids that although they’ll face struggles and perhaps bullying for ‘coming out’ as homosexual (or transgendered or some other perversion), life will get better. … It’s disgusting. And it’s part of a concerted effort to persuade kids that homosexuality is okay and actually to recruit them into that lifestyle.”
— FRC fundraising letter, August 2011

The marriage debate “is literally about the entire culture: it’s about the rule of law, it’s about the country, it’s about our future, it’s about redefining the curriculum in our schools, it’s about driving a wedge between parent and child, it’s about the loss of religious freedom, it’s about the inability to be who we are as a people.”
— "The Janet Mefford Show," May 22, 2014

“Those who practice Islam in its entirety, it’s not just a religion. It’s an economic system, it’s a judicial system, and it is a military – a military system. And it is – it has Shariah law that you’ve heard about and those things will tear and destroy the fabric of a democracy. So we have to be very clear about our laws and restrain those things that would harm the whole. We are a nation – let me be very clear about this. We are a nation that was founded on Judeo-Christian principles, that’s the foundation of our nation, not Islam, but the Judeo-Christian God.”
— "Washington Watch" radio show, September 2014

I guess, if you don't count the right-wing violence that just happened.

I mean, it was over a month ago, so how could anyone remember that far back.

He's got a siege mentality because his people have shown the willingness to literally fight and kill in an uncivil war, while corporations stand back and stand by.

Maybe they're spread out across what Reuters calls the two post-trump factions -- the "disaffected moderate Republicans and independents" of the old Bush wing; and the "trumpcult" base who still number in the millions.

They have nine common political bonds, half are assumed, half are trotted out in campaign fear messaging:

limited government,
personal responsibility,
free enterprise,
strong national defense,
anti-abortion,
pro-guns,
white supremacy and
religion.

They have said that the goal is not democracy. The goal is gun force and warrior language to conserve and expand all of the above as law and even American culture.

But by appropriately vetting the military, it's the Democrats who are "overplaying their hand."
Perkins thinks we take a game to their uncivil war.
He thinks their masses of believers are badass, but they are just anti-Jesus jihadi.

This guy is the longstanding head of the Family Research Council. Wikipedia lists him as a politician probably because he wields influence about melding church and state. That's pretty political in a way that Jesus had opinions about.

Not your movie guy.

There is a darkness and label of evil that they also project onto those of us deemed impure to the patriarchy.

If we Democrats underestimate any political entity in the US, it's the followers of political religious leaders like Perkins.

The evangelical jihadi are more than happy to see christian warriors in militias, military and law enforcement. They're all in the 'might-makes-right' feudal zone of nation control.

Jesus would approve of everybody-in-nobody-out democracy. They don't know from Jesus.
