Evidently my job is deemed critical or very important (or perhaps there was more vaccine than people available that day and I was a lucky fill-in), as I am now scheduled for my first vaccine shot on Tuesday morning. This is a Moderna shot and supposedly the second shot will be scheduled in about a month per the email I received.
I have zero hesitations about receiving the vaccine. Im just a little surprised as I didnt expect my turn to come for another month or so as I have no medical conditions nor does my age (late 40s) necessitate that I be bumped up in priority. I did not pay anyone nor did I persuade my doctor or my employer to get a spot in line. I simply received an out of the blue email from HR at my work address telling me where and how to make an appointment to receive the shot next week.

(21,996 posts)My wife and I both got the first Moderna shots last month. She got her second today and I'll get mine tomorrow. We don't really fit into a neatly described category either but they gave us appointments so we took them!
I had minor stiffness for a day or two afterwards while my wife got a big bruise. I'm told that after the second dose, some people experience very mild flu-like symptoms for a day or so. No big deal.
Good luck and stay safe!
