(22,031 posts)In the film, Mexico forces the U.S. to forgive all of its debt before they'll open their borders to Americans. It was a nice twist!

(7,513 posts)With the border wall and treatment of Mexico and Mexicans. It was a nice touch and made the point that we need to treat people in other countries the way we want to be treated. It came at the end, as a sort of way of saying 'this is how we need to move forward as a country'.

(10,039 posts)I seem to remember, in The Day After Tomorrow, that we basically had to beg Mexico to let us in. Mexico said "yes". Maybe I'm thinking of that Supervolcano (Yellowstone) mini-series that was on Discovery. That one, BTW, is one of the best I've seen.

(10,039 posts)On a macro level I believe the science was pretty good. On a micro level it's pure Hollywood. ...and that's fine by me.
