This is Smokey Robinson's 81st birthday. Appreciate him?

Thank you, my fellow Detroiter, Smokey Robinson, for so much of the music of our lives. Today is Smokey's 81st birthday, and while he has received countless honors, he has not yet received the Presidential Medal of Freedom (are you listening, President Biden?). Thank you, Smokey Robinson, for all the great music and your commitment to the rights and well-being of all people everywhere.

Great songwriter, great singer, great developer of talent. The pop music trifecta!
And, I wonderful person, too.

When I had my first girlfriend in high school I must have played his song Quiet Storm over and over a thousand times. My mom said boy, stop playing that damn song, and she was a black Christian mother. She never cussed! Thanks for this post and bringing to mind a warm memory of my mother.
