As much as leftists hate to hear it, there are no systems better than unregulated capitalism, which is why Texans are getting $20,000 electricity bills but no electricity during a deadly freeze.

Sad thing is - they will be shocked and cold, thirsty and maybe dead, and going to go fund me to pay these ridiculous bills that deregulation and unfettered greed have wrought on them - and vote for the same people that did this to them again and again.

2. Just to be clear and accurate. Not all Texans are getting this absurd bills.

It's for people who got sucked in by a company called Gridy. Variable rates are cheaper normally, but when something happens like this they go through the roof.

We, and most Texans, have a company and plan with a fixed rate you lock in every year or two.

Variable rate utilities should be illegal.

6. Capitalism is only for the poor,

crony capitalism is for the rich. Privatize the profits, socialize the costs. I saw Abbott declare that Texas was going to winterize its energy sector, with taxpayer dollars. That's like if a Walmart burned down in a city and the city made the residents pay to rebuild the Walmart.

10. Follow the money

Seems to me Jerry Jones and others of his ilk who boasted about his windfall ought to pay those bills. They can do so and still retain a small profit.

Sick bastards.

If they continue to vote people into government who do not believe in government, we'll have more of this. Climate change is real. Addressing climate change is infrastructure. The Republican party refuses to govern, and they are penny wise and pound foolish.

Get out the vote.

8. Whenever some corporate pirate says "there are no systems better than unregulated capitalism,"

they need to answer one simple question: "better for who, exactly?" Laissez faire, dog-eat-dog, unregulated, free market capitalists always measure economic gains differently than you or me. We need a new definition for "better."
