Michelle Wie West on Rudy Giuliani: 'I shudder thinking that he was smiling to my face ... while objectifying me'

Michelle Wie West took to Twitter on Friday night to express outrage over a story former New York City mayor Rudy Giuliani told on Steve Bannon’s “War Room” podcast Thursday.

“Do you have time for a funny story?” Giuliani began.

He then proceeded to recount a round with the late Rush Limbaugh at a charity fundraiser seven years ago in which the paparazzi was “driving us crazy.” Giuliani went on to suggest that the photographers were actually in pursuit because of the putting stance of their playing partner Michelle Wie, who “bends all the way over and her panties show.”

“What this person should have remembered from that day,” Wie wrote, “was the fact that I shot 64 and beat every male golfer in the field leading our team to victory. I shudder thinking that he was smiling to my face and complimenting me on my game while objectifying me and referencing my ‘panties’ behind my back all day.”

I have known many men in my life who would have done exactly the same thing. Sadly, objectifying women is some men’s favorite pastime.

Note that I don’t say all men. I have known many stellar men, too.

It’s just that the arrogant sexists make a woman’s life more unpleasant.

I will never be able to understand misogynistic, entitled, arrogant men. I think what bothers me most is how widely accepted is that type of behavior. I wonder at times if we humans will ever be able to move beyond such sexism.

Serving in the USAF back in the mid-70s, I got a hella wake-up call about what it was to be a woman in the military.

Heck, just watch old Mary Tyler Moore shows, and even in the “civilized world” (which the military was not) women had to constantly fight this crap off.

13. not just that but just about every girl/woman I have known well since 7th grade

has told me about being raped or molested by their relatives. I just can't be close friends with any woman these days. It rips me up. Can't take it any more. One woman chased me down because of one of my bumper stickers and wanted to be friendly and visited me etc. And next thing I know, she is telling me about being raped by a relative.

I wanted to go into the military when I was a teenager, you should have seen the look on my dad's face when I said it. He was a 20 year man.
