Live Action Role Play uses period costumes and fake weapons. I've done LARP for a Renaissance Fair with chain mail and medieval gear, and I do re-enactments for Revolutionary and Civil War. Re-enactments do use real weapons, but under extremely strict and limited circumstances.
These guys are there for intimidation.

The boogaloo movement is an anti-government extremist movement that formed in 2019. In 2020, boogalooers increasingly engaged in real world activities as well as online activities, showing up at protests and rallies around gun rights, pandemic restrictions and police-related killings.
The ideology of the boogaloo movement is still developing but is primarily anti-government, anti-authority and anti-police in nature.
Most boogalooers are not white supremacists, though one can find white supremacists within the movement.
The boogalooers anti-police beliefs prompted them to participate widely in the Black Lives Matters protests following the killing of George Floyd by Minneapolis police in May 2020.

(47 posts)These guys do not play nice, "they intended to incite violence at a Floyd protest." (1).
I was on a fishing trip at my father-in-laws house after the killing of George Floyd. He's a retired law enforcement officer and avid Fox News watcher. When I was there he made the comment, "The police really need to crack down on these protesters. They need a much stronger response." Which at the time I thought was extremely ironic since the people were protesting against excessive police brutality.
I think these Boogaloo guys are simply fascists. I think this definition of American style fascism is accurate:
"Fascists shared a seething hatred for socialism, liberalism, and bourgeois individualism. They believed in authoritarian leadership and the right of the strong to subjugate the weak. They believed in the primacy of the state over the rights of the individual. They believed their collective grievance justified violence." (2)
