President Joseph Biden immediately provided emergency assistance to Texas after the recent winter storm damages and ensuing power failure of Texas electrical grid.
What was Texas Republican Governor, Greg Abbotts response to this almost instantaneous provision of emergency relief? Was he grateful? Was he supportive?
No. He decided to be a jackass.

(1,397 posts)I live in Austin. Ive been pretty lucky, since Ive had power all week. The big problem for me has been having no running water, and I AM angry about that. At the moment, I have only about two cups of drinking water left (though I think I can get some today).
For the life of me, I cant blame Abbot for any of this. He inherited ERCOT, and they have not done their job. Neither have the Public Utility Commission of Texas and the TEXAS LEGISLATURE done their jobs as overseers of ERCOT.
In matters like this, the Governor is not the most powerful person in Texas, the Lieutenant Governor is. The blame, in my opinion, should fall on Lt Gov Dan Patrick, the state legislature, and ERCOT far more than Greg Abbot.

(10,863 posts)would like to put Abbot and his wheelchair and start him rolling down HWY 71 heading toward the Mopac intersection (steep hill) watch him crash. He is a disgusting piece of trash. I can hardly stand to listen to his BS.
How in God's name can we continually elect people like him, Perry, and Bush is beyond me. What the hell has happened to Texas over the last 30 years?

(639 posts)Every GOP up for re-election is terrified about new, more vocal, radicals taking over the state parties. They already have in some states, like Wisconsin's Tea Party control of both houses.
Abbot and the louder than normal crowd, are simply fueling the base in that state. Doubts about Trump's record, his actions and inactions have helped Texas energy network become a laughing stock globally and this fact will be part of the 2022 campaigns.
Abbot has to denounce everything, as that is the only manifesto the GOP has. No solutions, no options, no discussion of the who, whys and hows to fix this mess. It will happen again, with a hurricane and when hundreds are dying, property is damaged into the tens of billions...the blame will fall on the current reelected leaders.
That is Abbot, Trump and the GOP.
I wouldn't make much of anything the GOP screams, at this point, because we will have hindsight in 2021 and 2022 and the voters are paying far more attention to the 'little details' when casting ballots.
This is good to be overly informed, overly scrutinized, as more information will bring the truth to light, the facts to the forefront and the decision ours and ours alone.
