These asshats need to go to prison instead of glorying in having hit the jackpot on energy prices they can and did charge Texans. These dirtbags should be in the streets begging for mercy and and offering to sell all of their personal property to pay for the damage they have done to Texans.
These assholes just ran the biggest scam in American history on the Texan people and think they did a good thing. This is what you get when you let republicans run stuff. EVERYTHING republicans touch turns to shit...EVERYTHING!
Dont let them get away with this ....$17,000 for a few days of electricity? How many people died from their intentional negligence? 50? 100? Nobody knows yet. They have turned Texas into a fourth world country in the ongoing effort to strip all texans of as much cash as possible, regardless of the death toll or human pain they cause.
Fuck them, just fucking fuck them.

(14,118 posts)Im sure many knew they would have to pay higher prices at times, as per the agreement, but no one should be stuck with a $16,000 bill. I hope these people get relief.

After all when the adjustable rate deal was offered did the electric company say, we will deliberately not harden the grid so it will fail and then charge ten thousand times as much for power because it is so scarce
Because that is what happened
You cant fault regular people for not realizing how evil some 1 per centers can be

(5,453 posts)if this is how "free markets" work i'd rather be a socialist.
a reasonable solution would be to freeze shut offs and automatic payments until the prices can be investigated and adjusted to something closer to reality.

(19,253 posts)They'll sell it like a bailout of homeowners, but it's a bailout of the energy companies. This was price gauging, the energy companies should eat the losses, not the homeowners or the taxpayers.

(32,099 posts)No FEDERAL tax dollars. If they want to use state monies, fine. Maybe that will wake up the people of Texas to stop installing these criminals in their government. And, my condolences to those who haven't been, as there are plenty of those, too.

(51,289 posts)Roland Burns, CFO at Comstock Resources Inc., reportedly bragged that the week has been "like hitting the jackpot," according to the Dallas Morning News.
This week is like hitting the jackpot with some of these incredible prices, Burns said. Frankly, we were able to sell at super premium prices for a material amount of production.
The storms caused gas production to drop to a four-year low, causing a surge in natural gas prices. Comstock was able to sell gas from its Haynesville Shale wells Thursday, taking advantage of the shortage.
Jones initially made his money in oil investments in the 1970s, allowing him to buy the Dallas Cowboys in 1989. Jones invested heavily in Comstock in 2018, becoming the company's controlling shareholder.

(20,019 posts)After the 2011 mess he was a state representative and actually filed legislation to prevent blackouts.
In 2011, Turner filed a bill requiring the Electric Reliability Council of Texas to have adequate reserve power in order to prevent blackout conditions.
That bill did not get a hearing.
