Supreme Court refuses to stop NY grand jury from looking at Trump tax returns

Geoff Bennett @GeoffRBennett 7m
NEWS: The U.S. Supreme Court has declined to block a New York grand jury from getting President Trump's personal and corporate tax returns, a decisive defeat in his prolonged legal battle to keep his tax records out of the hands of investigators, @PeteWilliamsNBC reports.

the famous phrase, “by and large….[district attorneys] could get a Grand Jury to indict a ham sandwich.”

So who's the ham sandwich now?

They will tie him up in knots for years.

But I worry about the jury pool. If he manages to get a change in venue to an upstate court, he will be in a very trumpy area. Just one red hat on the jury is enough to hang the jury. And a few of them are enough for acquital - regardless of the evidence.

Still, it's great news.

I am waiting to see the first day he gets in to his cell and all his bullshit primping beauty aids are verboten. Just wait until he has to follow the rules, work in the laundry, bus dirty dishes...and earns 35-cents and hour.

Being that we have this news today, when do we realistically think we are looking at indictments? A few months?

but wants copies that have a chain of custody to the irs.

I've been told that in nys, you have to ffile copies of your fed returns with your state returns. Now if they altered the fed copies, that would be interesting. Now nys can compare what he filed with the state against what he filed with the feds.

But they had other ways to obtain copies. They just couldn't use them cleanly. So their case is probably very ready once they get the certified copies.

numbers don't lie. Trump can't bullshit his way out of this one. I hope they bring in his accountant too, he shouldn't get a pass.

Couldn't find anything in the article. Just curious as to whether or not the drunk frat brat or Clarence Thomas got their heads out of Trump's ass long enough to do the right thing.

A bunch of election cases were also denied cert (meaning SCOTUS won't hear them) this morning without comment. There was one PA case involving a PA Supreme Court decision where 3 justices dissented from the denial so you can guess how that "vote" went.

The forms for your province of residence are included in your federal tax package and have to be submitted together.
