Science. This is just mind blowing to me, every single time they do something. AND, to make it so we can see it! Science. As the guy said the day this happened, "NASA works. NASA WORKS!"

I cry every time I see it. What we can achieve when we put our time, brains, energy, and money into the betterment of mankind as opposed to figuring out faster and more hideous ways to kill each other, is flat out amazing.

And also, just like the moon landing, not only is this an incredible scientific accomplishment, one of the most amazing parts of it is that we got to watch it happen in real time. Well, OK, an 11 minute delay, but we got to watch it...not a computer animation, but the real thing. Not sure a lot of people (not you guys, you're smart) realize just how amazing that is.

The eruption of joy in the control room is part of what gets to me. That's a room full of people who know all the careful work that went into making that happen. The things we can accomplish with teamwork.

It was too bright and you can see the standalone lights.
It was filmed at White Sands with a Red filter.

Do not believe your eyes.

Do I need the sarcasm thingee?

Way to go NASA!

BTW, I worked for Dan Goldin, who was the head of NASA for 3 administrations.
I'm a huge NASA fan.
