Two women under 65 dressed up as grannies to try and get their second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine in Orlando this week and now officials are trying to figure out how they were able to get their first shot.
We realized that a couple of young ladies came dressed up as grannies to get vaccinated for the second time, said Dr. Raul Pino, the director of the Florida Department of Health in Orange County during a Thursday briefing.
They were wearing bonnets, gloves, the glasses, the whole thing, he said.

(22,056 posts)First, did the women get their second doses? Although their behavior is reprehensible and possibly criminal, I believe they should be given their second shots for two practical reasons. First, their first doses shouldn't be wasted. Second, if they have the same reaction that I had, it's part of a punishment they so richly deserve. Also, publicize their names and publicly shame them!
Seriously, if Florida has a law or regulation that these women violated prosecute them. It's still better for society-at-large to vaccinate them no matter how disgusting they are. We need to develop herd immunity as quickly as possible.

(22,056 posts)The arresting officer said they wouldn't get it.
Did his superiors or health officials agree? The article doesn't say one way or another.
Look, tar and feather them or put them in a pillory or stocks. Or how about this: In today's world, publicly humiliate them as the "Karens" that they are.
If they violated laws or regulations, prosecute them to the full extent of the law.
But don't waste the first doses. Herd immunity needs it.
And please, don't think that I'm supporting these two losers. Our country just needs to get vaccinated.
Even the bad people need to be vaccinated. Two of them demonstrated that with this story.

(58,785 posts)I'm not making excuses for them. I just have a problem, Floyd, with calling them "shit bags" without knowing WHY they did it.
Do they have jobs that put them at risk? (As a retired person who finds isolating easy, I have real sympathy for those who can't. I'm also tired of having to consider them heroines when they should be vaccinated.)
Do they have elders at home they're afraid for? Did one or both lose someone they love and become especially afraid? (Btw, 271 dead children as of early this month, and far, far more who went through hell and now have seriously damaged health.)
Did they just need vaccination before heading off on vacation? Are they otherwise just stupid, selfish jerks who didn't want to wait, a mirror version of the many contemptibly irresponsible millions defiantly refusing?
Notably, neither of the accounts I've read, and it's been a few days now, bothered to answer the question of why. Just fed them to the mob, so to speak.
