Will the fact that he is so manifestly fair, decent, and highly qualified matter at all?
(If it's less than half, I hope President Biden tells them to take their warped version of "bipartisanship" and shove it straight up their saggy asses.)

(39,351 posts)Seems like it from his comments today. If that holds up Garland should get 12-15 Rs easy.

(26,044 posts)...who initially was saying that he would oppose his party's efforts to fill a SCOTUS vacancy during a presidential election -- then quickly fell in line when they actually did it.
I suspect we'll see zero Republican votes for confirmation -- in fact, if we get any, I'm going to take it as a sign that McConnell and Co. have decided that the best way to solve "the Trump problem" is to let a Democratic DoJ go after him. Of course, should that happen, they'll be loudly decrying the "partisan witch-hunt" even as they ("mainstream" Republicans) reap the benefits from it.

(39,351 posts)and train their fire on women of color, Tanden and Haaland as the base chants hooray. With the help of Manchin they might actually succeed. Opposing Garland for AG is a waste of political capital.

(23,166 posts)throw the "bipartisanship" bullshit onto the trash heap and burn it. They OWE this man BIG-TIME for the way they treated him on the SCOTUS nomination!! If they don't oblige (and I will be surprised if more than two of them fall in), then I would say burn the basturds to fine ash and scatter it at sea.
