Anatomy of a MAGAt mind

I post this to show how it's nearly impossible to have civic discourse with certain Trump-bots. You can give them facts to correct their errors and they see you as insulting them.

My original post on F/B: AOC raises $5 million for Texas relief fund (https://www.axios.com/aoc-raises-5-million-texas-relief-fund-a1714c31-4cfe-4563-86b1-24600016f1e7.html?utm_source=facebook&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=onhrs&fbclid=IwAR32kWC-QzEDg8hVtwstX6xCCChyM5bsvZrUgIsCDZSjFHkLmPqqeZUK3dE)

1st snarky reply:
Didn’t she just make fun of TX last week? I saw an article where she laughed at them. She must be trying to make up for that.

My response:
That was before the Deep Freeze, BlackOut, etc. She was criticizing Gov. Greg Abbott and his policies, not the people who live in Texas.

2d snarky reply:
knowing all the people that she knows, she could’ve done better than $5 million. Heck the Atlanta mayor raised $500 million to help the homeless.

My response:
OTOH, $5 million in 48 hours from people outside of Texas is not slacking. And it was $50 million raised for the homeless in Atlanta.

3d snarky reply:
(A half-hearted concession but changing the target to Joe Biden) I guess it’s better than nothing. She’s doing more than the president is.

Friend #1's response:
She's a rep from New York. She's doing more than the Senator from that very state. He wants credit for handing out bottles of water. And, she's not doing more than the president: "The declaration unlocks aid for individuals, grants for temporary housing and home repairs and low-cost loans to cover uninsured property losses."

Retort to my friend:
He hasn’t even visited the state. Even Obama talked about it before he did.

Friend #1's response:
He's sending the help that's needed. That's a lot more expedient than a visit. Your criticism has no merit.

4th snarky reply:
Your opinion has no merit. It’s the president‘s job to send help in a timely manner unlike this. I’m entitled to my opinion. I’m not the only one who feels this way.

Friend #2 steps in:
Opinions are not a replacement for facts. Learn the difference.
President Biden deferred a visit to Texas because he felt the resources that a presidential visit would require would drain already-overwhelmed resources that were needed elsewhere. President Biden is planning a visit this week.
President Biden made available all the resources of the Federal government, including a "Major Disaster" declaration, releasing additional funds available in the form of grants and loans for homeowners and businesses. What do you think President Biden should do that he isn't doing? Please be specific, and citing facts and sources.

5th snarky reply:
And you are obviously ignorant because you can’t respect other people’s opinions. Abusing and insulting others is the only option in your mind. Pathetic.

But you cannot change the minds of those who refuse to think. It’s literally impossible.

Well done on your end. Whatever happens to this person is not your fault.

Reading. Can't imagine having to write the replys. And friends coming in too. All those stats. To what looks like no avail.

That's the reason I never engage with my stupid relatives anymore. Because even if I prove to them that they're dumb as fuck, they still prove that they're dumb as fuck by acting like your magat did.

I've had similar exchanges in the past whereby my right-wing adversaries simply declared that "EVERYTHING is an opinion anyway", while they simultaneously resented me for clearly being a more educated and informed "elitist".

They're often mentally lazy -- a common trait among many evangelical Christians too -- and not worth the effort to me anymore.

QMAGA: Ted planned a long time ago to go on vacation.

Me: Actually he decided to go that very day he got caught. I even added the tweet from Heidi Cruz about staying at the Ritz for $300 per night.

Qmaga: {{{Something about plumbers and electricians and then}}} You don't know how to debate.

I did not engage after that since I wasn't debating I was giving facts. So, no need to continue to address this dimwit.
