I haven't seen anything indicating that he's OK with her threats and he didn't have any say in whether or not she was elected.

"Mr Manchin has no problem with his Republican colleagues who have made threats against Democratic members. "

Ditto. I haven't seen him support them in any way.

I agree with you on the alleged rapist. That was stupid, though he clearly did it as a nod to his constituents (62% wanted K confirmed) since K was going to get in anyway. Doesn't make it any better, of course.

Because of mean tweets. For fucks sake... we have big problems to solve and we need the actual best people. If you’re going to approve a rapist, but you’re not going to approve a woman of color, YOU are part of what needs to go in this country.

It's a ridiculous reason to oppose a nomination and looks worse in context. I think he believes it was destined to fail, so he's playing the "bipartisan" for his constituents. Doesn't excuse it, of course, just like it didn't excuse his vote on beer dude.

What I do disagree with is your assertion that he doesn't care about the threats to his colleagues. I haven't seen any evidence of that, and I suspect the opposite is true. He was quite vocal about Trump's involvement and pretty clearly infuriated by the insurrection. I can't imagine that he gives anyone in Congress a pass for their involvement or incitement.

“It’s the most horrible thing I think in my lifetime that I have ever witnessed, that I could have ever imagined could happen in my country, in my Capitol and by my own people.”

“For someone in our own government to do this and incite this type, especially the president, it’s unheard of.”

It is a signal to the party and his constituency, that he is his own man.
Manchin is playing games; he is signaling he is the lynchpin. At least he is
in his mind; we will see how it plays out.

Be assured; you will not grow fonder of Senator Manchin throughout the
duration of Biden's Presidency.

I hope we ditch the filibuster and go for the policies Joe and Kamala ran on in 2020.

We don't speak ill of our elected Democrats.

Senator Joe Manchin is a Democrat, albeit a "moderately conservative" one.
