Retired NYPD officer arrested for pipe attack in Capitol riot

https://www.nbcnewyork.com/investigations/retired-nypd-cop-once-assigned-to-secure-city-hall-charged-in-pipe-attack-on-capitol-police-officials/2904889/?_osource=db_npd_nbc_wnbc_twt_shr

The man who surrendered at the FBI’s Hudson Valley office Monday to face charges in connection with the Jan. 6 U.S. Capitol siege is a retired NYPD officer who had been assigned for a time to work perimeter security at City Hall and at Gracie Mansion, the mayor's official residence, law enforcement officials with direct knowledge of the investigation told News 4 Tuesday.

Thomas Webster, who is expected to appear in federal court in White Plains later in the day, is accused of using a pipe to attack Capitol Police that day, the officials said. Webster's attorney, James Monroe, declined to comment Tuesday.

The FBI had released an image, later identified by law enforcement officials as Webster, as part of their ongoing investigation into the violence last month.

#SeditionHunters posting about #EyeGouger being arrested. I am not confident this is true. There is no affidavit. The NBC story does not link the arrestee to eye gouging. What NBC did is show an old Wanted poster and claim with no source that FBI says that's who they arrested.

@capitolhunters
That's not enough basis for us to make that claim. I saw a picture that seems to be the Upper West Side person they arrested and it didn't look like #EyeGouger. So let's wait til there is more solid information.

are having their officers' social media activity looked at by someone.

White supremacists and Christian nationalists have had a policy of infiltrating the police and military since the 70s.

I would hate to see a total witch hunt, but this stuff does need to be brought out into the open.

I agree departments need to investigate but from what I've been seeing most are reluctant. Here's an example:
A cop in PA was arrested, based on a warrant to access posts made under an alias. He knew he might get arrested but did not turn himself in.
https://www.ldnews.com/story/news/2021/02/19/north-corwall-twp-police-officer-arrested-connection-capitol-riots/4510492001/

Snip
In a news release, North Cornwall Police Chief John Leahy said officials from the Lebanon County township became aware Friday morning that a member of the police department had been arrested and is facing charges in connection with the U.S. Capitol riot on Jan. 6.

"No Township official had any knowledge of this individual’s actions prior to his arrest," the release states.

However, Fischer, as SV Spindrift, indicated in a Facebook message the day after the riot that he might need a job, the criminal complaint states. When he was asked if his employer said anything to him, Fischer replied: "Yep.... chief did."

There's a link from that article stating that chief has been suspended, with pay! The department will not make a statement til Monday. Chief knew the day after 1/6.

And a former cop from NC was arrested as part of oath keepers conspiracy ring. One article does not state she is a former Police officer.

But this article does. https://www.google.com/amp/s/statesville.com/news/state-and-regional/former-nc-police-officers-arrested-for-role-in-capitol-riot-52-year-old-is-part/article_bc265fd7-2da9-5a0c-a0b7-c424368f04b7.amp.html

Snip
Steele worked as a High Point police officer, including a period where she was a school-resource officer, and is currently married to Kenneth Steele, who has been assistant police chief for the High Point police department. She also listed herself as a public safety officer for Novant Health on her LinkedIn page, which appears to have since been deleted.

...It was not immediately known when she left the High Point Police Department.

Officials with High Point Police could not immediately be reached Friday.

And her brother was arrested, also charged with conspiracy. And it's not clear if her husband is or was the deputy chief. He was not arrested but he's married to her and has held a high rank. Did that delay her arrest for 6 weeks?

I've been checking the DOJ site for updated information on arrests
https://www.justice.gov/usao-dc/capitol-breach-cases
As arrests have been made, some are revealed to be current or former cops. Several do not have case status or arrest information listed. Specifically Fracker and Robertson were named early on. I question what's up with that?

I don't want to see a witch hunt either, but I suspect that blue wall has been holding back the tide that should be coming in with information about complicit law enforcement. Some departments have been quick to condemn and fire those who participated, while others have avoided taking action.

This former cop who gouged out the cops eye probably knew he was going to be arrested, which is the only reason he turned himself in.

It seems they think they should have immunity because they've been law enforcement officers. This guy asked to be released based on that fact. Glad he wasn't.

his NYPD jacket to the insurection. What is it with these numbnuts losers? Many of them insist upon wearing clothing that makes it easier to identify them? I guess they thought their messiah was going to take care of them though. When you decide to worship someone you owe it to yourself to find out a little bit about them though, right? Rump thinks about himself exclusively, and that's no big secret.

We have what I think is a bizarre situation in Canada. There are, and have been other, political parties in Quebec whose central ethos is dragging Quebec out of the Canadian Federation.

Yet some still sit in our federal government, and some draw govt. pensions. Talk about having it both ways.
