Oliver Konteh, a member of the crew working on the TV show "Grown-ish" recounted to us on video what the director said about Tiger nearly hitting his car just before 7 AM.
1:47 PM PT -- TMZ has learned ... Tiger was staying at a hotel where a major network television show was being shot. Production sources tell TMZ, when the director arrived just before 7 AM, Tiger was driving his SUV very fast as he was leaving the property and almost hit the director's car. The director was shaken enough to tell production staff about it after he parked. A crew member who saw Tiger as he got in his SUV at the hotel tells TMZ, once Tiger got in his vehicle, there was a delay in driving off and he appeared "agitated and impatient." The crew member says once the delay was over, Tiger "took off fast."

Since people are speculating about DUI, what is probably more relevant is his history of painkiller addiction (related to his leg and back issues). The PGA SiriusXm channel is reporting he had a pretty full day scheduled (two days, actually). He was allegedly on his way to do a two day profile and photo shoot.

(28,343 posts)may point to the prednisone as a contributing factor. They/he may have been looking for non-narcotic pain-control long before as well as after the surgery.
Prednisone is a wonderful, and terrible drug.

(24,334 posts)I wonder how you can tell that when someone has leg injuries and can't walk. I would think driving your car off the road and down a hill and rolling it over would be a sign of impairment.
He said there is no reason for any testing to check for DUI.
Trust me, it wouldn't go that way for you or me.

Sometimes celebrity has its own world of privilege, sometimes.
I say sometimes; Springsteen got busted for .02 in the park.

(24,334 posts)but the Sheriff's spokesman just didn't want to go down that road today. In California, they can take a blood sample with or without consent.

(23,371 posts)He had a set of clubs in the car. Or maybe he was late returning the courtesy car after the Genesis Invitational tournament, where he was a commentator.
That car looked like it might have been exceeding the 35 or 40 mph limit on the boulevard. It takes a bit of force to separate a car from its engine.

It hurt so much to walk that he pretty much stayed sitting down. It really affected his quality of life.

(4,012 posts)..the speed limit for that roadway, I'll venture had he been in a sedan (lower center of gravity, among other handling advantages compared to any SUV) he might not have lost control on the alleged downhill & curvy part of that road. Way too easy to lose control at speed in a SUV compared to a sedan.
Odd though the police already said no skid marks. The onboard computer will tell the accident investigators not only how fast he was going but also data on steering inputs, braking action (or lack of as noted) and more. In further readings, it's apparent he was on some opiates for his back surgery or prior medical needs. Maybe these drugs affected his judgment (speeding). Bad news indeed and I wish him well.

Since it was a loaner, did he have all the fancy driver assist stuff set correctly?
I'd worry about renting a car these days. Got into a PT Cruiser once and couldn't figure out how to lower the window to show the attendant the rental agreement. Who thought putting the window controls on the center console was a good idea?
His delay in the parking lot may have been due to trying to figure out some feature. Seems likely that he was speeding, hit the curb of the median divider, and went airborne.
