It's an impressive set up in the MSU Pavilion which, in better times, holds up to 2,500 instead of hundreds of cars. The entire thing took about an hour. It was staffed by the Michigan National Guard and Heath Department personnel, all extremely friendly, helpful, and polite. A young National Guardsman who is a medic injected me. I have several clear beaded bracelets from the group 4Ocean which helps remove plastic from the ocean. He remarked, "Are those those ocean bracelets?" I was so surprised he knew what they were and replied, Yes." He said, "Cool." 😁 💚
I made sure I thanked every one of the volunteers for doing this. I told them they were saving a lot of lives, including mine, and that I so appreciated it. I get my next dose on March 16, the day I would've been on my way to Maui for two weeks, sigh. I rolled over my reservation until 2022, just to be safe.
I hope that soon everyone will be as fortunate as I was to get it.
Here's a local news story about the set up at MSU:

(17,622 posts)Yay for your shot. Hubby and I got both ours, Pfizer as well. The shots are so quick and painless. I asked hubby why (hes a Pharmacist) and he said the Pfizer shots only have 3ml as compared to a typical flu shot that has 5 ml. So jab is quick!

I am anxiously awaiting my 2nd mid March and even if I get sick I so don't care

(26,262 posts)The county is still just making appointments for the first 2 groups, and I'm in group 3.
I'm keeping an eye out for any other places to register. Hopefully vaccine shipments will start arriving, soon.

(26,262 posts)My brother got his first shot, and it brought back ALL of his Covid symptoms for about 36 hours. He's fine, now, and should be getting his 2nd shot, really soon.

Never felt a thing. Had to think which arm I got it in today.
Signed up at 3 places. The first was the State website. They were the first to call.

(26,262 posts)I used to drive up for the Pow Wow, every year. A friend is a tribal member. That was always one of the highlights of my summer.

(32,675 posts)with-in the Reservation. Live about a mile from the casino. Great concerts.
I think that there will be lots of shots in a month as they are moving to such a big venue. Biden has pushed for production increases. I'll bet those under 65 will be getting the shots then.

(2,023 posts)Moderna, first jab. I was supposed to get it Friday but the weather delayed delivery of their allotment of the vaccine. Since you set the precedent of revealing the location of yours, I'll reveal that I'll get mine at the east end of the University of Missouri football stadium here in Columbia. Which is about a mile and a half from my house. Probably a mile as the crow flies. I've been reading comments from posters here on DU who have had the Moderna jab who talk about the side effects, soreness in the arm and severe fatigue for a day or so and other unpleasant effects, but I don't care, I'll put up with it, because even with the side effects, you're playing the odds by getting that level of protection. None of those side effects are as bad as being in an ICU with a tube stuck down your throat. So I'm actually looking forward to it. Or, more accurately, I'm looking forward to having had it done. My doctor has his nurse Cindy give me a flu shot every year in his office, and it always makes my arm sore for two or three days. No big whoop, I hope the Moderna jab will be no worse than that.

(9,580 posts)at University of KY field. I have been happily impressed with Kentucky and how easy it was to get scheduled, and vaccinated. Now I just need my "kids" to be vaccinated before I truly relax. They are in phase 2 - over 40 yo.
Good for you, catbyte, it's a relief, isn't it?

(34,381 posts)control of our state government. I thought we were just preventing the GQP from further turning Michigan into Michissippi; little did I know we were literally saving my life and the lives of countless others when we completely kicked the GQP out of the executive in 2018. It's evident from all of the pushback the GQP-dominated legislature is giving Governor Whitmer for her executive actions addressing the pandemic that there would most likely have been a whole lot of inaction, denial, and obstruction akin to what's happening in Florida. I'll bet it would be a different story in Kentucky, too, if you hadn't elected Governor Beshear.

(647 posts)I live in Genesee County and I am Group 1B. I am registered on U of M Hospital Ann Arbor list (they contacted ME months ago), Genesee County Health Dept, Walgreens, Rite-Aid, Meijers, and I feel that I will NEVER be called.

(34,381 posts)notified yesterday that she has an appointment at her local Meijers today. It happens fast.
I know what you mean about registering everywhere. I registered with Sparrow Health, the county, Walgreens, and Meijers. I even signed up with Spectrum Health in the Grand Rapids area. They must be giving appointments on a first-come-first-served basis depending on when you signed up. I signed up with Ingham County a while ago but the others within the last couple of weeks. My friend signed up with Meijers about the same time I signed up with the county. She gets prescriptions from them and for some reason, I thought you had to be a customer to sign up, duh. I haven't heard from anybody else except for the occasional email telling me that there were no appointments available and thanking me for my patience as if there was anything I could do about the delay, lol.
I feel fine today except for a slightly sore arm. I've had a sorer arm from flu shots.
Good luck!
