All he said that he was not willing to make commitments without knowing the facts. He very pointedly refused to criticize Barr for being less circumspect.

As to why people reported here that Garland called Barr a liar, they were following advice questionably attributed to Mark Twain: "Never let the truth get in the way of a good story."

A quote about disregard for the truth likely being falsely attributed is delicious irony.

Twitter tweets are unreliable, we all know that.

The Twitterer invariably adds his/her own twist to a story.

Second hand Twitter 'News' is best checked up on before accepting it as accurate.
