I mean, I'm kind of shocked at the low level of what they are capable of dealing with on a daily basis.
Seems like they can deal with one active shooter, or a moderate slightly rowdy crowd.
I mean, they're not tour guides, right? This is our Capitol and we are way past 9/11. Plenty of time to game out what is possible and be ready.

(8,767 posts)The problem is that there are folks imbedded that are bull goose looney trumpers as well as evil persons in wealthy and powerful positions, often generational, that benefit at what is major cost and disruption to most.
The chain of security command was deliberately weakened for January 6, new people put in positions protocols changed and intelligence not conveyed. Really serious evil shit and now complicit individuals and most of the MSM wants to normalize and minimize what occurred.
Now is huge but not easy opportunity to improve and stabilize the USA and be a better member of the World community of nations.
IMO in military and law enforcement sectors there are many individuals that are easily lead into GOP and even trumpian world views, however not based upon reality much less social empathy and kindness. Point is that there are many with this mindset in military, law enforcement and let's add conservative churches.
So far Biden et al have been more successful and resolute and the Dems pulling together much better. But our margin is slim and time tight and we need to crush 2022.

(3,635 posts)of our police/security etc. Nothing like this had ever occurred. There was only ever online bluster about insurrections. Now we know that online extremism can easily translate to real world action, and need far ranging reforms.
