FlashbacK: Neera Tanden criticized #Manchin's daughter publicly for price gouging of #epipens

Have to admit that I had forgotten about this.
I have not seen it mentioned in the news until just now.

BTW--#epipens is trending now on twitter

Sooo, it's personal for Manchin. Makes sense & George is correct, Manchin should recuse himself. His daughter got a huge salary increase after the price of the Epipen was raised. Millions more in pay & I remember how people were infuriated over the increase...

he did help his daughter get employed by them. So as usual, even though he supports lowering drug prices, he's high-wire dancing.

Interestingly, a rating site I just glanced at, "pharmjustice.org," gave Nancy Pelosi an F (!), whose plan to lower drug prices (Elijah E. Cummings Lower Drug Costs Now Act) passed by unanimous Democratic vote in the house but was killed by McConnell. Needless to say, Pelosi has always been a strong proponent of lowering drug prices and increasing availability by a whole slew of means.

They give Manchin's record a C-. But since I give their "ratings" a big, red F-, that's meaningless from them.

5. I Did Find Sen. Manchin's Response to Tanden's Nomination Hypocritical
Wed Feb 24, 2021, 09:47 AM
Feb 2021

I had forgotten about Sen. Manchin's daughter. However, I had found Sen. Manchin's response to Tanden's nomination hypocritical. Sen. Manchin had just been through four years of mean tweets by politicians. I could not see any reason Sen. Manchin would vote against Tanden's nomination just because she made a few mean tweets. It just seems so silly. Why on Earth would he give in to Republicans on this when for years Republican did not have a problem with Republicans making mean tweets.

The idea that Sen. Manchin is opposing Neera Tanden's nomination because Tanden criticized his daughter makes much more sense. It now seems Sen. Manchin is using mean tweets as a cover for just trying to get back at Tanden for her criticism of his daughter.

If his goal is to fuck over Biden by not letting him have his cabinet picks -- breaking the precedent where a new president is allowed to create his cabinet -- Mitch not only delays the department getting up to full speed, he gains a political talking point that the Repugs are all that's preventing Biden from enacting his radical agenda.

If Manchin votes against a nominee, Mitch wins. If he recuses himself, Mitch wins. Either way, McConnell retains control of the Senate, even though he's not the titular head.

It's time for Biden and Schumer to demonstrate that the Dems won the election, and elections have consequences.

It's also time for the leadership to demonstrate that any senator who tries to hold the party hostage will lose, and lose big. When Biden talks about unity, he's not only talking about the country -- where his proposed policies are wildly popular, even among Republicans -- but also among his own party. We either live together or die together.

not generics, but EpiPen brand specifically. Then they promptly used the invisible hand of the market to slap people in the face. AKA, they abused their monopoly power to jack up prices which have nothing to do with the cost of manufacturing it or R&D. Just pure abuse to get more profits because they can and her dad is now the most powerful US Senator as a swing vote on everything.

We need more and better Dems in office.

I had to dash my husband to the hospital after he disturbed (unintentionally) a big nest. After that, we got pens.

I understand there are cheaper varieties, with a different spring mechanism (which is the patented part), but I don't know if they would be suitable for you. I realize they could still be too expensive.

Deepest sympathies! The American dream has turned into a nightmare.

My mother was a triage nurse for over 45 years, and she would just get one of her handy doctor friends to write me out a script. She would then get me a syringe and a vial to keep handy. (I can inject myself with no problems, even while suffering from mild anaphylaxis. Done it a few times). I know I know... shady in so many ways. But, we were always 'almost' poor, and this was a death risk. So, we did what we had to do to survive. (She only had to do this twice, as I was still in possession of the second rig when she retired.)

ideological or power play. I have no respect for him at all now that I see it's a mere vendetta. Schumer should make him pay a big price. The majority margin is razor thin, but with friends like this, who needs enemies?
