"My story of working with Governor Cuomo"

Last edited Wed Feb 24, 2021, 03:21 PM - Edit history (1)

“Let’s play strip poker.”

I should have been shocked by the Governor’s crude comment, but I wasn’t.

We were flying home from an October 2017 event in Western New York on his taxpayer-funded jet. He was seated facing me, so close our knees almost touched. His press aide was to my right and a state trooper behind us.

“That’s exactly what I was thinking,” I responded sarcastically and awkwardly. I tried to play it cool. But in that moment, I realized just how acquiescent I had become.

Governor Andrew Cuomo has created a culture within his administration where sexual harassment and bullying is so pervasive that it is not only condoned but expected. His inappropriate behavior toward women was an affirmation that he liked you, that you must be doing
something right. He used intimidation to silence his critics. And if you dared to speak up, you would face consequences.

That’s why I panicked on the morning of December 13.

The state of NY doesn’t have any jets in its fleet. They operate several turbo prop aircraft and several helicopters but no jets.

And a related story in Faux news: https://www.foxnews.com/politics/cuomo-ex-aide-accuses-scandal-plagued-ny-governor-of-pervasive-sexual-harassment-in-bombshell-essay

If true, this is pretty ugly. And the Medium essay does sound pretty credible. I expect the piling on to commence and more stories to come out now. Maybe it’s the same Cuomo fatigue that limited the elder Cuomo to 3 terms as Governor. Or maybe it’s just Andrew Cuomo.

5. The state of ny operates turbo props, not jets

The main aircraft he flies on is a King Air which is not a “private jet.”

No where in that story does the word “jet” appear. If he’s on a private jet it’s because someone has loaned it to him, which is not uncommon in politics.

The story may be true but right away there’s an inaccuracy in it which makes it fair game to wonder what else is inaccurate.

6. Some people who aren't in the aviation community are pretty loose with terms

She may have just thrown "jet" out there when it was a turbo-prop. It's not that germane to the story.

This is like Republicans trying to parse every word from Christine Blasey Ford when she recollected her interactions with Brett Kavanaugh.

It's not conclusive yet, but there's more and more demanding attention.

Somewhere, there has to be a line between "destroying" and "holding accountable." It's challenging to be with the party that actually has scruples and values. I'm not prepared to abandon that.

7. This reminds me of how gun nuts get "outraged" when regular folk refer to magazines as "clips"...

..and then use that outrage to automatically dismiss all other gun control arguments.

12. Stefanik now calling for Cuomo's resignation.

“Gov. Andrew Cuomo is a “criminal sexual predator” who “must immediately resign” over a former aide’s detailed sexual-harassment allegations, a member of Congress from upstate New York said Wednesday.”

https://nypost.com/2021/02/24/rep-elise-stefanik-calls-on-gov-cuomo-to-resign/

This is precious. The dumbfuck never called for Trump’s resignation and continued to support him despite the fact that he was a serial predator and alleged rapist.

This person ran for a sitting Democrat's seat...Nadler's seat. I don't like her, nor do I see any reason to believe her story. Do you want a GOP as governor of New York?

18. he does deserve to be primaried

Cuomo does deserved to be primaried for working with the IDC, a caucus of turncoat democratic NY state senators who gave the majority to the Republicans, while staying D for elections. It messed lots up until there was a concertive effort to purge the IDC members and get true Democratic senators.
It took that for rent protections and liberalizations to get passed.
He threw in a monkey wrench once the Medical Marijuana bill was passed and going through reconciliation, leaving NY state without actual marijuana only concentrates, along with only 5 license holders who have all sold out to big money out of state corporations.
Also when Affordable Care Act was implemented the state of NY sunset their previously generous Family Health insurance plans.
He is wall street's governor, not main street's.
