More than 235 defendants have been charged in federal court. Of those, 70 were also indicted by grand juries, according to documents reviewed by CBS News.

CBS NEWS reports the following stats:
20 have been charged under a destruction of government property statute.
40 people have been arrested for assault on law enforcement officers.
195 alleged rioters charged with "restricted building or grounds" charges.
20 of those arrested are veterans and three are currently enlisted in the military.
5 worked as law enforcement officers at the time they allegedly took part in the riot.
31 alleged rioters linked to extremist groups.
29 women have also been arrested for their alleged participation.

The complaint goes on to state that a lead around Jan. 25 led the special agent to the driver’s license for Mullins, which was used to identify a bank account Mullins had at F.N.B. Bank. Around Feb. 5, investigators interviewed a bank employee who had a decades-long relationship with Mullins at the bank, identifying Mullins in a photo.

The employee also mentioned to investigators Mullins had been in the bank lobby on Feb. 4, which was confirmed by investigators via surveillance footage.

On January 6, 2021, Riley June Williams, a 22-year-old home care worker from Pennsylvania, was one of roughly 800 rioters who breached the US Capitol building in Washington D.C. While many engaged in property damage and violence that day, Williams’ case stands out given her ex-partner has alleged to the FBI that she stole a laptop from Nancy Pelosi’s office.

This former boyfriend also alleges that her goal was to sell the laptop to a Russian intelligence agency, a claim January court documents say “remains under investigation,” but which has been denied by Williams’ lawyer who accuses the former partner of seeking revenge.

While Williams has not been charged with stealing the laptop itself, something she also denies, she faces multiple charges including violent entry and disorderly conduct on Capitol grounds as well aiding/abetting others to “embezzle, steal, purloin.”

Footage from January 6 released by ITV News shows Williams urging rioters upstairs towards Congressional offices. In one video from inside Pelosi’s office, a voice that the FBI states it believes to be Williams’ says “dude, put on gloves” before a gloved hand takes a laptop from a table. The affidavit links to a thread of captured Discord posts from a user named Riley bragging, “STOLE SHITT FROM NANCY POLESI [sic]”.

In an interview with ITV on January 16, Williams’ mother described her daughter as getting caught up in the moment. She noted that Riley had been radicalized on far-right message boards but described her daughter’s main political goal as, “…wanting America to get the correct information”.

While the person in the video’s face is covered, Bellingcat has been able to establish it is Williams by piecing together a variety of clues detailed in court documents, social posts and images she uploaded online.

Pennsylvania man Richard Michetti apparently sent his ex-girlfriend text messages and two videos from inside the Capitol.

“If you can’t see the election was stolen you’re a moron,” Michetti reportedly texted her late in the afternoon of Jan. 6.

Later, he fantasized: “The election was rigged and everyone knows it” ... and “gotta stop the vote.”

According to the court records, Michetti texted earlier: “It’s going down here, we stormed the building they held us back with spray and teargas and paintballs.”

A Denver police sergeant has submitted a letter of support for a Capitol rioter who is accused of violently beating a cop during the Jan. 6 siege. In a letter of support for Jeffrey Sabol—a 51-year-old Colorado geophysicist who was captured on video dragging a D.C. police officer down a flight of stairs—the unnamed sergeant insisted his friend of 12 years is an “upstanding citizen” that deserves leniency. “In the time I have known Jeff, he has been a person with a good disposition in our small mountain community in Jefferson, Colorado,” wrote the law enforcement officer, who describes himself as a decorated 23-year veteran with the Denver Police Department. The sergeant went on to say that as a police officer he never had an issue with Sabol and was surprised by his conduct on Jan. 6. “Despite this current case, I still believe Jeff Sabol to be an honorable person, a valuable member of the Jefferson County community, and a good human being,” he added.

The missive is among 30 letters of support submitted to the court by Sabol’s friends and family, who paint the father-of-three as a “peaceful and loving” man. Sabol was seen in several videos attacking an officer during the siege, and at one point holding a police baton across the cop’s neck. After the savage attack, Sabol bought a plane ticket to Zurich in an attempt to flee, prosecutors said. In a statement to 9News, the Denver Police Department said it is “extremely disappointed that an unknown Denver Police officer submitted a letter in support of an arrestee—especially given the allegations against him.” The department said it is now looking into the matter.
