It featured four women who were cooks in school cafeterias. One of the women said how she made special effort with her meals because she knew it was the only meal a lot of "my kids" get during the day. Another told how in her kitchen they packaged the leftovers to give to kids they knew were food insecure at home. It was heart wrenching, but at the same time truly one of the best Chopped episodes ever! These women were not just cooks, they were devoted to the kids they served every day.
A little off topic, in the documentary Super Size Me, there was a segment on school lunches & how most have become no better than a food court at a mall. One school decided to go back to wholesome food for lunch, cooked food with real vegetables, not pizzas and chicken nuggets. They also required PE again. They said the improved difference in the attention and concentration of the kids was amazing.
It's impossible for me to imagine the scope this pandemic is going to have on this generation of kids & teens.
