Lots of people will be in this thread apologizing for calling a sitting Democratic Senator a racist misogynist.

Where's the sarcasm button???

Her agency has much more control over western US coal reserves than anything in WV. Almost all WV coal is on private land, so they aren't dealing with federal leases much.

EPA and Army Corp of Engineers has a lot more impact on WV reserves.

She is a a shining example of greatness that her fellow Native Americans can take pride in. And the rest of us who aren't Native Americans are very proud of her too.

Or coddling. Or bribery. I would rather believe it is his constituents calling him telling him to do his job. His only other choice is to vote with the Republicans and that is just not a good look these days.

I take full credit for Joe changing his mind. Here's the email I sent him:

It’s obvious. You plan on spending the next 4 years of Biden’s term pissing in the soup. You’ll be taking over the job McConnell performed during the Obama administration.
I don’t live in West Virginia so I can’t vote against you. But, I can help raise money and devote some of my own limited resources to supporting any candidate who runs against you in a primary.
If a snaggle-toothed junkyard dog challenges you in a primary, he or she would have my full support.

Why the hell can't we find a path around this sonofabitch? I'm sure we are working on one but I guess this is the shit we have to eat when we don't truly control our own destiny, and exist by the hair of our fucking teeth.

Better than the other scenario, but all the more reason we need to hail-the-fuck-Mary and bomb the filibuster.

Manchin's daughter, Heather Manchin Bresch, is the CEO of Mylan. Mylan is infamous for raising the price of EpiPen by 400%.

Last year she made 19 million-plus. How much is that an hour?

vote for her. She was introduced by Don Young who is Alaska's sole Congressperson and is a very conservative Republican. It provides her abundant cover to vote for Haaland. Young is bad on a whole lot of issues but on Native American issues he is actually quite good which is likely why he introduced her and is a good friend of hers. That said, glad Manchin came through on this as he actually had a more substantive reason to oppose her than he did Tanden. At least in this case Manchin disagrees on a major issue of policy (albeit with her being right and him wrong).
