Should the 'stimulus' payments be made monthly?

I put quotes around on stimulus because I really believe they'd more accurately called rescue and aid payments since that is what the tend to do for myself and most of the people I know that receive them. The amount, while welcome and helpful, isn't -that- much overall and can be eaten up pretty quickly but normal expenses, particularly in the chaotic environment we're all stuck in.

I know its got the odds a snowball in blast furnace of happening but I was wondering what other board members felt about the subject.

and we should move to a program of Universal Basic Income. I believe that the $1K per month as suggested by Andrew Yang during his Presidential Campaign was and is a good idea.

hoe many other countries have ALREADY been assisting their people monthly. Like paying them to stay home and healthy, hmmm...?

This past year has been hell for many of us, with no end in sight.

House leaks, deck is rotten. bathroom has NO electricity, We want to sell it but we don't have the $$$ to even bring it up to code.
A check every month could go towards fixing our house. I don't want to die under a bridge, homeless.

Harris campaigned on $2000 a month.

Make it smaller payments, $1,000, retroactive to the beginning of the pandemic. Continuing through three months after official end of pandemic.

Or, we can just tax the rich directly.

Money in the hands of the working class (everyone who earns a paycheck) moves pretty quickly up the economic ladder.

We should get all those back months at least. And then I support UBI for people who are really struggling. Then we can see how high on the income ladder we can extend the amounts.

We're at the point now with vaccines and lockdown-fatigue that things are going to start up, whether the virus is still here or not. It would be a lot harder to push for monthly payments now.

All the otheir countries that did that have prevented damage done to their economies, and didn't have the small business lost like we have.Families stayed home lowering the spread of the virus . It kept people from going bankrupt.

or had their income significantly reduced because of CV19.

Not saying it’s a bad idea, but I’m not aware of any country that offered substantial monthly payment beyond stimulus similar to ours or offered a paycheck continuation like ours.

with universal health care. But I don’t have the answer to your question, but think the benefits that countries already have for citizens should be taken into account.

Most veterans do not know that they may be entitled to a pension depending on their income and dependents. It is complicated but they should check with their VA office in their county. They do not have to be disabled.
