Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsI just scheduled my first Covid vaccine jab!! Tomorrow at 11:45!!
I can't believe it - I've been checking sites, all day. I registered with Meijer, and they just sent me a link to schedule, and there was a spot available for tomorrow.
It's clear on the other side of town, but I don't care. I'll do a bit of shopping while I'm there.
Oh, and WHOO HOO!!!!!

(12,154 posts)Lots of volunteers and National Guards. Very well organized unlike ERCOTs response to the train of cold snaps. They had us post vaccination sit well apart in another room for 15 minutes or so. My next is around March 24. So far no soreness or fever 98.7° just now.

(10,128 posts)NM Department of Health sent me a notice and gave me an appointment time and location by text. It's at the Walgreens in Los Ranchos if you are familiar with Albuquerque.

(638 posts)My sister got her first shot today. She went to this church on Bristol Rd. She just called up and they scheduled her right away. She said they had 1000 shots available, but no one was showing up. Well, I would, but the church refused me cuz I didnt go to their church. Funny thing, my sister doesnt go to that church either.
Im registered for UofM Hospital in Ann Arbor, Genesee County health dept, Rite aid, Walgreens, and Meijers.
Oh well, Im feeling pretty sad about it. Maybe Im supposed to get the Johnson & Johnson shot....

(26,241 posts)I wish there was a better 'hub' to check for exactly who has availability. Rite Aid and Walgreens had nothing. I just signed on with Meijer on Monday and wasn't expecting to hear anything, for a while. I've been registered with the county health department, for weeks.
My husband and I received our first (Pfizer) shots today at our local Walgreens. We've always used Walgreens for our RX needs so I had a Walgreen account set up online. I had heard they might be getting a supply of vaccine so I began signing in and checking for appointments in my zipcode. I would check at random times throughout the days. It always said no appointments available. On Tuesday I checked again at 8 AM. The screen flashed green - appointments available! I immediately signed us up for the 1st and 2nd shots. We did have to verify that we were over 65.
So, it might be worth it to sign up for a Walgreen acct - they don't seem to need much info - and begin checking for appointments in your area. Or perhaps just call the local Walgreen and see if you can get an appointment.

(26,241 posts)My appointment is at the one on Center Rd in Burton. I'm glad the weather is going to be good because I hate driving even the mile to Aldi, when the roads are bad.

(26,241 posts)I don't know if it's a mandatory thing, or not. My brother got his first jab, and gets his 2nd, a week from Friday. He's already had Covid-19, and it was rough. He said he'll do whatever it takes to never get it, again.
I remembered when President Biden was at the Pfizer plant, he mentioned that Meijer would be getting more shipments. Then I got an email from them so I added them to the places I'm registered with.
They had about 6 appointments available for tomorrow.

(26,241 posts)My brother had Covid, back in March. When he got the first shot, he said it was just LIKE having Covid, all over again. He was at my house several times when he would have been highly contagious. I don't know if I maybe had it and was asymptomatic. AND, if I did, and I was, will my reaction be as benign, or more like what my brother went through.
I will be asking those questions, tomorrow, and will 'report in', here, once I know how I'm doing.
