No one would be stupid enough to nominate him for anything. (take that back, Yes, there are a whole
lot of stupid people out there..a whole lot!!!) ???

(11,728 posts)Trump is not a viable candidate, but he retains a fiercely loyal (and stupid) following. He won't win the Republican Primary. The hope is that he runs 3rd party and splits the Republicans so that Democrats win easily.
Likely however, that he doesn't even run in 24. He won't run if he thinks he will lose and even though he acts like he is a shoo-in, he probably knows that he would lose and so he'll make an excuse and not even run.

(66,310 posts)Let's leave aside for a moment all of the reasons why he ended up taking the oath in January 2017 and remind ourselves that it happened regardless.

(4,999 posts)He has only seen that it generates much needed cash.
Failing to win the last election doesn't really count, he still gets the cash from lots of devoted rubes tossing $20/month at him.

(14,561 posts)I told people he was no joke when he came down the escalator, that he was a real threat to win the nomination and if he did this country was absolutely stupid enough to make him POTUS.
And, if he is still alive and not in jail he EASILY wins the 2024 nomination and is going to be VERY hard to beat.

(52,155 posts)anyone who seriously thinks this was in a coma the last four years. He got in in 2016 and yes there were huge problems with Russia etc but he did win. Then after killing hundreds of thousands of people and tanking the economy he got more votes in 2020 then he did in 2016 and came within a fairly small number of votes of sneaking in again despite losing by 7 million votes. Now, I think he won't run again due to age but that said, we underestimate him at our peril. Remember Biden is older than he is and it took Biden to beat him among those we were considering nominating.

(18,570 posts)but history tells us it is not strictly necessary to win.
Someday we may learn a lesson rather than repeatedly underestimating our opponents

(6,488 posts)it will be Trump. He controls his party. His ego will demand it. He will think that no one can win but him. And, he may be right.
He will have his own network and broadcasting system in place, which he will use to saturate the news with his tales of success. He has the experience to make it work. He remains a dangerous foe to America.
If we allow him to get control of the US Government a second time, we will be done. These people are fascists. And, they won't try to hide it. They used --and are still using --our own laws against us.
We are in a period where we can luxuriate in the freedom that Joe and Kamala bring us. We can sleep at night. Our muscles and bones can relax. We can think about other things. But, come midterms, we will have to be back at it with a fury. If we don't make these vile people go away, our children will suffer.
So, get prepared. At least our eyes are wide open. We know who and what they are. We now also have experience.
