(1,123 posts)One of the headlines in the Boston Globe today:
Your estimated wait time is 50,475 minutes: State vaccine appointment site hits more snags.
This is the newly revamped state website with a waiting room, it's been an absolute shit show here.

(2,113 posts)I am also in MA. Tues. eve my GF noticed a post on fb that my younger sis had gotten her first dose. Of course, we had been frustrated with the sh*tshow of the web site, so gf emailed sis asking how she got in. Turns out, sis has a friend who has a friend in GA. He is from MA, and his parents still live here. They were also frustrated trying to find appointments, so he went to work and figured out a way through the mess. He got appointments for them, sis and sis' friend. Sis gave us the contact information, so we wrote to him with the necessary info asking for help. He called the next morning with bookings for both of us. He said, "Please don't share my name because I need to sleep." I assured him that his secret is safe with me. Apparently, he has been slammed with requests for assistance.
Of course, I need to drive from Great Barrington to Razor Field, AKA Gillette Stadium, but that's OK because I have a good car.

(1,123 posts)I got one just minutes from my house, I still don't know how I got so lucky. I'd been checking my town's website over and over hitting the schedule button, finally an appointment popped up, but I figured it would be the same as all the other times I tried, by the time I filled in all my info the appt would be gone, but it wasn't and I got it.

(4,435 posts)because I'm 62 and will just have to try not to die of Covid before I finally get the vaccinations. I wonder how many threads there are going to be about this topic? Quite a few I think, since just about everybody on DU and most people in general will be getting the shots.

(44,972 posts)My age group is nowhere near getting the vaccine, and seems my state might actually skip giving vaccines based on pre-existing conditions (unless they are certain congenital conditions). Why the conditions have to be congenital makes no sense to me whatsoever.
For instance, now those with serious diabetes type I can get vaccinated but not those with type 2.
Which medically makes no sense, as diabetes type two increases risk of covid complications.
They also have conditions like spina bifida on the list of those able to be vaccinated right now, and spina bifida doesn't increase the risk of covid complications.

(54,275 posts)There is no notification, no place to call, no nothing here. No clue, and a government of self-important bureaucrats who are terrified of only one thing--having to do something.
