I remember bagging groceries at an Air Force base in South Dakota while going to high school getting a quarter on non pay days and a dollar per bag on pay days, that came at the end of each month so to speak , to help me save money for a car and there was 4 of us sharing the costs at the end of day...............

It's called "minimum wage" because employers would pay workers nothing if they could.

At 60 years old, lets assume Thune started working a kid's type job, like in a pizza shop, in 1976 for $1/hour. In today's dollars, that's $4.60 per hour. Now lets say that by 1981 he finally landed that $6 an hour job. In today's dollars, that's $17.21 an hour.
They want us to live on 1960's wages & pay 2021 prices & not complain about it.
