Meghan and Harry Donate New Roof to Women's Shelter in Texas
Prince Harry and Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, made a donation to Genesis Women’s Shelter & Support in Dallas, TX, after it sustained severe damage to its roof as a result of the state’s recent severe winter weather and deep freeze. The shelter’s CEO, Jan Langbein, told CNN that the couple’s donation not only provides for the organization's ‘critical needs,’ but also raises awareness about the important issue of violence against women and children worldwide.
Genesis Women’s Shelter & Support, which offers resources and transitional housing for women survivors of abuse and domestic violence, was forced to temporarily close for the first time in more than 3 decades due to the severity of damage sustained from the weather event. The shelter, which has since been reopened, will be using the couple’s donation to fund its other immediate needs, as well. Harry and Meghan recently officially stepped down as working members of the royal family, but in doing so, have pledged to devote their lives to service.
