Republicans are totalitarians. They want the people to be hurting because when people are hurting they are in a place of weakness and the weak can be controlled.

We are supposed to be out working ourselves to death at their whim. Anyone who won't should be arrested and punished until they will. The rest should be left out in the cold to die.

They live in fear of the success of a program supported by Democrats in Congress. They will not support it, lie about it, spread fears about it and once successful, talk shit about repealing it all the while doing exactly nothing real about it. Again, like Obama Care.
Years later I am

The GOP doesn’t want the poor people who are in poverty to get health insurance.

There are millions of our fellow Americans making poverty wages, who have NO health insurance because they don’t qualify for ACA (their annual income is classified as poverty) and/or they don’t qualify for the current Medicaid programs in their states.

In Georgia, this includes huge numbers of uninsured white, brown and black people.

The GA GOP refuses the Medicaid Expansion plan and funding because the ACA was President Obama’s greatest achievement. The GA GOP would rather that you get sick and die rather than benefit from a federal program that was created by a black, Democratic President.

At least in past administrations.
That they thought that coddling their Republican peers in Washington, even though those R's are NOT in sync with the majority of the American people, was the way to go. In some convoluted idea that if enough of more moderate R voters see that, they will be impressed enough to decide to switch parties.

Why not side with what the majority of actual working people want outside of that Washington bubble? An example; a $2000 cheque that was seen as being promised, reduced to $1400? Who is that supposed to be impressing?

A majority want some form of M4A. In whatever form that takes. Yet much of the leadership also runs from that.

Yes, I realize that you need votes, like from Manchin and Collins, but at some point they have play the long game. Stand up for what the majority wants, and it will eventually pay off.

Poor Congressional Repubs caught between their high principles, which don't allow distributing all that money back to the working classes it came from, and the greedy, lazy people.

This is a huge rescue package and it is certain to spur the economy and help with the pandemic. It is a huge feat to get this bill passed.

With zero Republican support. Democrats need to push the narrative that every Republican voted against the $1,400.00 stimulus check.

Will some Republicans risk voting for it?

I could see her rolling her eyes over the non-video phone call as she suggested we talk about something else. Translation: Mom's just crazy and thinks everything's political.

She listens to far too much local news but doesn't seem to have a clue what's really going on. She voted for Biden, so there is some hope. Still ... anyone who can't see that the republicans are terrified that Biden will succeed isn't paying attention.

If he $15 minimum wage isn't part of it, it gets done very quickly and people will get their checks and know who is looking out for them.

The $15 minimum wage can be another debate and Reps can block that as a standalone and face the consequences too.

Trump drove the economy off a cliff, and botched the response to the virus, Biden will be remembered for saving the economy and defeating the virus. Nothing can change that if we pass this stimulus.

Democrats propose. I mean I think Arizona and Florida have passed $15.00 minimum wage bills and then Republicans from those states go on TV and claim how terrible passing a minimum wage will be. In all fairness, states like Alabama and Mississippi who keep the workers in bondage may have trouble paying 15 bucks.

I also believe that malign foreign actors (loookin' at you Vlad) are some of those paymasters.
Mysterious trips of several GOPers to Moscow on July 4th, 2016 look pretty fishy to me.
You can't tell me there isn't a HUUUGE money/evidence trail supporting this theory.
