'Worshipping the golden jackass': CPAC mocked for displaying giant gold Trump statue

The Conservative Political Action Conference is set to begin this weekend, and early indications are that much of it will be dedicated to worshipping former President Donald Trump.
In fact, as a video posted by Bloomberg News' William Turton shows, CPAC will even feature a literal gold statue of the former twice-impeached one-term president, who will also be a keynote speaker at the event.

Many Twitter users noted that a gold Trump statue would seem to violate biblical commandments against idolatry, and it drew comparisons to the golden calf idol destroyed by Moses in the Old Testament.

A little context: the cartoonist, Dave Willis, grew up in a strict conservative evangelical household, and Joyce, the little kid/older kid/young woman in this progression is something of an alter-ego of his about how that bubble bursts for some people, and of some of the hypocrisies that manifest in the people that never leave it.

The only person in that room who didn’t kiss the Trump butt at that meeting was Secretary Mattis. He did not praise Trump but said he was grateful for the opportunity to work hard for America’s defense and, especially, for our men and women in uniform. Every stinking’ other member of Trump’s circle lined up and smooched away at that humongous ass.

I can't wait to hear that the folks at CPAC didn't realize it was a parody -- Uglicans are thoroughly parody-blind.
These seems right up there with something Billionaires for Bu**sh** would do.

Wow. I posted a cartoon once of Trump as the Golden Calf worshipped by followers. Even I'm gobsmacked that it actually came true. A golden statue of a twice impeached, one term President. Who told over 30,000 documented lies.
His biggest legislative passed bill was giving himself and his rich friends huge tax cuts adding over a trillion to the debt, ignored climate change while cutting pollution regs, separated children from their refugee parents to intimidate brown immigrants from "sh%$hole countries" from even trying, over 500 parents cannot be located now.
A man lived an elitist hedonistic life, who rejects God, says doesn't need Him, can't name a verse, cheats on wives, stiffs contractors, indebted to Russian oligarchs after one too many bankruptcies meant he couldn't get a loan from American banks, and with a very long history of racist behaviour and encouraging white supremacists. One time caught for screening black renters from his buildings.
This foul mouthed, petulant child-man, who can't face facts, like he lost the election. Not to mention how his selfish concern for bad political optics led him to refuse to take the pandemic seriously early enough, and caused hundreds of thousands of unnecessary deaths. Politicized a pubic health measure like mask wearing! And to this day has encouraged skepticism of how deadly COVID19 has been.
I frankly am embarrassed so many I know have been fooled by this charlatan who coddles, admires and praises dictators like Putin, who was a high KGB official at the time when the Communists were torturing and imprisoning Evangelicals. Astonishing. It was always hard to imagine how so many Germans could be convinced Hitler was the answer. Not so much anymore. And its sad to watch.
