Sen. Kaine calls for a briefing on U.S. bombings in Syria

“The American people deserve to hear the Administration’s rationale for these strikes and its legal justification for acting without coming to Congress. Offensive military action without congressional approval is not constitutional absent extraordinary circumstances. Congress must be fully briefed on this matter expeditiously.”

are seriously needed. We certainly don’t need to be in Europe and Australia and other places that have money for their own security. If we did a revamp then maybe we’d have goodies these other countries have. Worth a look.

Sens. Tim Kaine (D-Va.), Chris Murphy (D-Conn.) and Rep. Ro Khanna (D-Calif.) are among the Democrats criticizing the Biden administration for Thursday night's airstrike against facilities in Syria linked to an Iran-backed militia group, demanding that Congress immediately be briefed on the matter.

Kaine has led the charge in the Senate to repeal the 2002 Authorization for the Use of Military Force (AUMF) against Iraq and to replace the 2001 AUMF — which has been cited repeatedly by presidents to justify U.S. military action all over the world — with a narrower authorization.

Kaine is smart enough to know this already.

If you want to rescind the previously passed AUMF and limit what sort of military actions can be taken, you are in charge now -- put a bill doing so up for a vote.
