trump turning CCRAP into another propaganda outlet,

To project trump as already the party winner. That's all this is about, corrupting that group into submission for trump to use for PR now. Its all about him using this to grift money for himself, and to bully others in the republican party with. trump is not a republican, he's an extreme fascist who promotes white supremacy, and hate, and fear. Republicans who don't stand up against trump now are guilty of sedition, and corruption allowing him to go unchecked now. They've enabled trump to try to undermine our Democracy. trump's killing the republican party now to replace it with himself.

Nobody is talking about it. I’m wondering why we give it so much attention here. Thread after thread. One article on a thread would have been more then enough. It’s supposedly in Orlando where I live 40 minutes away and it’s not a topic of conversation among the population here.

CPAC, explained

A conference for ideologues has become a celebrity experience.

The conference has already made headlines for the invitation and subsequent disinvitation of troll and provocateur Milo Yiannopoulos when it was revealed that he’s added the occasional pro-pedophilia remark to his usual arsenal of misogyny, racism, and transphobia.
...
An annual conference at which conservatives could meet face to face was a natural complement to ACU’s core work of lobbying Congress and giving members voting records scores for how conservative they are. And so in 1973, ACU started the Conservative Political Action Conference.

CPAC was a small affair for its first 25 years or so of existence. And by the late 1990s, the parties were thoroughly sorted along ideological grounds. Moderates existed in both parties, but all the conservatives were Republicans, and there was no real doubt that the Republican Party was the political vehicle of the conservative movement and vice versa. New institutions that spoke more directly to the needs of the present day naturally came to overshadow older ones from a much earlier era.

And by the 21st century, the ACU was no longer a particularly vibrant or important operation, a fact that in many ways speaks to its fundamental success. George W. Bush is not and will never be a conservative icon in quite the way Ronald Reagan was, but his administration marked the Washington ascendancy of a thoroughly conservative Republican Party in a way Reagan’s never did. But while ACU itself fell somewhat into the shadows, CPAC saw a surge of attendance coincident with Bush’s inauguration that set the stage for its emergence as a major phenomenon.

What Is CPAC? A Room That Didn't Always Love Trump, But Owes Him A Lot

Over the next few days, thousands of conservatives will converge on a conference center just outside of Washington, D.C., for the Conservative Political Action Conference. It's a gathering that, for the last several years at least, had a gravitational pull for any leader on the right who may have hoped to replace Barack Obama in the White House or play a role in opposing his presidency.
...
That's the backdrop for the 2017 edition of CPAC, which is the largest annual gathering of conservative activists from across the United States. It's an event that keeps growing, with attendance topping the 10,000 mark in recent years. It's four days of speeches, panel discussions, break out sessions, networking breakfasts, after-hours parties, all with plenty of patriotic music mixed in, where the rock stars are leading conservative voices – some of them elected officials, some best-selling authors or media stars, and other icons of the movement.
...
In past years there was columnist Ann Coulter using a homophobic slur during her 2007 speech to describe then-Democratic presidential candidate John Edwards.

And in 2011 a gay Republicans group called GOProud was one of many official co-sponsors of CPAC, prompting a boycott from some other sponsors who objected to GOProud's message. A year later, GOProud's request to again be a co-sponsor was declined by CPAC organizers.

2013:

Thousands are attending the three-day conservative convention to listen to a variety of rightwing favourites. This year, the convention has infamously become too conservative for many of the most famous conservative politicians, which means it should be tremendous fun.

Donald Trump: Friday, 8.45am
Who will Trump take aim at this time? Will his weapon be a lawsuit or borderline blackmail? Turn up to find out.

Rick Santorum: various times
Santorum appearances have been relatively scarce over the past few months, but the one-time frontrunner for the Republican nomination is back with a vengeance on Friday. His Super Pac, Patriot Voices, has dubbed the day "Patriot Voices Day" (CPAC has not) and lined up no less than six Rick Santorum hosted events.

Trump the Race Card: Are You Sick and Tired of Being Called a Racist and You Know You're Not One? Friday, 3pm
The issue of race and racism can be a tricky one to navigate. Good news then, that it is the ever-sensitive Tea Party Patriots, who are sponsoring this discussion of How You're Not a Racist Even If Everyone Else Thinks You're Racist And Says You're Racist But You're Not Racist You Just Believe In America And What About These Illegal Immigrants And Take Back This Country And Etc Etc.

12. Trump was not a Republican, but ...

... the Republican Party has become Trump.

CPAC just proved what the politics of "conservatism" has become, promoting the BIG LIE of a stolen election and worshipping the orange creature who has become the Golden Calf of white grievance and rightwing religious idolatry.

Trump is a monster of their own creation. Decades of rightwing propaganda from Rush Limbaugh to Fox News to Infowars along with Jerry Falwell and other Christian charlatans paved the way for his coming.

This con man shares none of their ostensible values, worshipping only himself and the bottomless pit of his insatiable yet fragile ego. His mental pathologies and ignorance were not obstacles, because those attributes enabled him to connect with great swaths of the Republican voting base in ways the politicians of the GOP establishment could not.

For he was an outsider, and they hated their own government. And he was a celibrity and a TV star, honing his craft of self promotion in the American culture of lowest common denominator entertainment. Donald Trump is ignorant of many things but has a lizard brain intelligence and a talent for encapsulating the decades of rightwing propaganda, spinning narratives in front of an audience eager for a champion who can articulate their grievances and make them believe he will win back "their country" for them.

As we have seen and are seeing today, the old school Republicans are powerless to contend with the populist fury and belief in the latest of many BIG LIES which energize their voters.

They made this monster possible, and now it is beyond their control. There is no prospect of unity or good faith cooperation with a political party in thrall to Donald Trump and everything he represents.

Trumpism will not die any time soon even if the orange creature chokes on a hamberder tomorrow. Other ambitious con men, perhaps smarter and less burdened by mental pathologies, are eager to carry that banner forward.

At issue is whether our democracy will die before this monster can be thoroghly defeated in the theater of politics. Ignorance and bigotry and the usurpation of religion by those who lust for wealth and power have plagued our civilization throughout history. It will not not vanish with mere electoral victory.

The struggle goes on, but now it is more existential than ever. We are pushing the resources and ecosystems of our planet beyond its capacity to sustain our abuses without severe consequences. Political and economic landscapes change. Some generations suffer more than others, but if we -- human civilization collectively -- do not change our ways soon, future generations will suffer terribly in a less habitable landscape with fewer of the resources we took for granted and squandered.

The imperative to defeat this monster transcends politics. We must find the strength and wisdom within ourselves, and teach our children well. Their future depends upon it.

Look Ahead America (an orange anus production) is headed by trump toady, Matt Braynard, a Frank Luntz clone, and it looks like it is poised to launch another Astroturf movement.

Our Mission

There are millions of rural and blue-collar patriotic Americans who are disaffected and disenfranchised from the nation’s corridors of power. Their fears ignored, their priorities dismissed, their values ridiculed, they’ve become cynical and pessimistic about a government that so often does not hear their voices.

Our mission is to register, educate, and enfranchise these disaffected citizens and ensure that their voices are not just heard but heeded and that the American Dream becomes their dream again.

We will also organize and guide patriotic citizens in lobbying their state legislatures and local governments on America First initiatives like fighting corporate censorship and ensuring voter integrity.

You can join our effort by donating, volunteering, and spreading the word about our daunting but necessary endeavor. Click below to learn more about our objectives.
