if the poor's needs are met by mere work, what motivation do they have to become rich??

Not that they balance each other in nature, they are both unnecessary and need to be seen as things to change.
I would suggest that they equally contribute to a general malaise.

I don’t care if a person refuses to work (not that there’s many like that), they should still be provided with housing, food, medical care, and cash for incidentals.

This quote is shocking:

"Even with private insurance, many patients are denied coverage for immunotherapy or forced to cover up to 25 percent of the cost"

I'd like to see a deep dive into how that can be. I'd expect a bad financial outcome without health insurance, but this threat remains even with it.

I'm sure everyone is sick to death of "My parents raised us with one income, and we weren't rich, but we lived well" stories, and my life story is the same.

They had one income, yet still managed to bring my sister and I up in a good neighbourhood, had two cars....all the things you'd expect.

My ex worked, but that was her money to do with as she pleased, and she did. My income bought the house, paid ALL the bills and even built an education fund for our son.

That was not THAT long ago, and look what's happened. In my adult life, those stories have all but disappeared, and a two-income family still isn't without financial worry.
