Not a Fan of Military Action against Iran

I liked that Obama had alleviated some of the conflict with Iran. Trump ramped it up again with sanctions.
We aren't long into the new Administration. I would like them to take time for diplomatic solutions.

..that we cannot control events in the Middle East. No matter whether our intentions are good or not, there are too many factions, too many variables, too many EVERYthing, for us to sort out, much less resolve.
I'm not saying that we must withdraw completely, but we need to switch from military attempts at control to economic/diplomatic attempts to sort out our place in that region.

Andrew Bacevich's book America's War for the Greater Middle East: A Military History is a good place to start looking at our problem.

There would be terribly political consequences from that.

I've lived during a few wars in our history. Violence begets violence. Looking back, the reasons for most of them seem so futile.
