...and how much has to do with some asshole's rigid sense of hierarchy, being pissed when the underlings get out of line and don't "go through channels".

Labor Fight Collides With the Pandemic at Trader Joe’s
The chain has aggressively opposed unionization efforts among its employees, who have been critical of its response to the coronavirus.

Why shouldn't employees be able to advocate for their own safety without living in fear of losing their job?

Austin and Minneapolis trader joes.

They were the only store I went to for a while they were so beyond anybody else so I know they put in the effort. I just have not interest to read, because the issue is not rampant whatever it is.

Just a rah for my trader joes and thank you

But service industry workers being put at risk IS rampant. Way to stand up for the little guy.

Anything that impacts their profit margin goes against their Values.

And that includes "trouble makers".

Trader Joe's has also gone to great lengths to stop unionizing. They've been against extra pay for their workers during coronavirus. They come off as a quirky, trendy seller of offbeat merchandise, but they're really a wholly owned subsidiary of Aldi Nord, which is often rated the world's largest grocery chain with 10000 stores and $59 Billion in revenues. German owned.

It's weird to see them worshipped as some small-town, quirky, folksy, liberal-friendly, natural grocer. Their record of suppressing unions is detestable. I guess they have a great marketing department.

it is clear he's done his homework. Some of his suggestions are correct, some make sense but he underestimates the difficulty and time it takes to implement them.

But regardless of that fact firing people for expressing their concerns is wrong. They could simply have said "no".
