"SNIP.....
Ever since the Affordable Care Act became law in 2010 a big deal, in the (sanitized) words of Vice President Joe Biden Democrats have itched to fix its flaws, the New York Times reports.
But Republicans united against the law and, for the next decade, blocked nearly all efforts to buttress it or to make the kinds of technical corrections that are common in the years after a major piece of legislation.
Now the Biden administration and a Democratic Congress hope to engineer the first major repair job and expansion of the Affordable Care Act since its passage. They plan to refashion regulations and spend billions through the stimulus bill to make Obamacare simpler, more generous and closer to what many of its architects wanted in the first place.

(26,259 posts)Unfortunately. Think of how much money goes into those annoying 'big pharma' drug commercials that run, non stop. Money saved from not running those could go into decreasing the cost of prescription drugs.

(7,862 posts)I'm grateful those in charge are doing what they can to fix the system we have.
If you want Medicare for All, do more to get Republicans voted out.

(14,302 posts)It's not immediately MFA, but it will heat up price competition.

(68,552 posts)GA will choose between Warnock and whoever the GOP puts up in 22...it is vitally important both politically and to help people get a public option. We can't get MFA...that was always impossible. But if we work on the the ACA and manage to get a public option ...in the end, we will have universal coverage with regulation.

One of Biden's keystone promises/issues was improving the ACA. As we've seen in just 30+ days, there's no grass growing under his feet, he's moving at (might I borrow a phrase?) "warp speed"!

(11,563 posts)Believe me. I've had that health care my whole life, and I have fewer than zero complaints. My insurance is free, it quickly and willingly gave me around $300,000 worth of care in 2010, and my prescriptions, already at a very reasonable price, are discounted a further 70% because of age and income.
DO NOT GIVE UP ON IT!!!
