EarlG: Can we have a TRUMP forum that is not part of GD?

I've been here since 2004. Over the years, annoying but popular topics were relegated to their own fora, thus cleaning up GD. Even in Primary Season, primary/candidate threads are in their own top level forum. We even have fora for particular candidates.

I know some of us see Trump news as news. Others of us see it as an intrusion.

Pretty please?

7. I think a Trump forum would be counterproductive

I think trashing Trump threads is the best option which I do sometimes. Sometimes Trump can be part of the topic especially when it comes to GOP divisions.

10. Donald Trump is still part of the news

He is not history yet. There will be stories about him in the coming months that most people will want to hear. There are numerous lawsuits in the works, there will be investigations into Jan 6th, and he still affects the political climate. It would be nice to relegate him to some obscure corner of DU, but I don't see how that is possible.

Trump is still a powerful influence in republican politics and we can't cover politics without referring to him now and then.

I've been sick of Trump being shoved down our throats by the media for years. I'd love to have Trump-stuff segregated into it's own putrid places. If we're lucky, he'll be in jail before too long (or, in hell, as a second-choice.). It would be nice to have discussions of Trump separated from serious discussions. After all, the two have nothing to do with each other.

All my years on DU, I've never had any problem simply not clicking on a topic that didn't interest me.

My sensibilities are not so delicate that I cannot bear to even see some particular word showing up in the list of OP subject lines. I might feel momentarily annoyed to see a particular topic, but it doesn't take much effort to get over it - especially since I'm free to not click on it.
