Maybe I am too mistrusting, but I am having a little trouble believing that Lady Gagas dogs were found in an alley tied to a pole.
These thieves had no problem shooting a man in the chest and leaving him for dead.
If they had to abandon whatever plan they had because of the media attention, why would they even bother to tie them to a pole?
These are people with criminal minds. I would think they would have killed the dogs and disposed of them.
I would not be surprised if the story dramatically changes as to how these dogs ended up being brought to the police.

(81,856 posts)Because I'm not sure they would have taken them if they knew who owned them. Of course, the shooting also made it a high profile crime.

(81,856 posts)They intended to take the dogs, but they might not have known whose dogs they were. This would be a non-story if Lady Gaga wasn't involved and without a shooting. Both of those factors made it tabloid material. The dogs were too hot.

(44,973 posts)There were no-celebrity that had dogs stolen and I saw those stories on the news, and nobody was actually shot.

(44,973 posts)considering 500k was offered for safe return, and no questions asked, to just tie them to the pole.

(10,898 posts)A chipped dog probably wasn't much of an issue if they wanted to sell it on Craigslist or something. But how would they unload a chipped dog with everyone looking for them?
You don't. Tie them to a pole and run.

(10,898 posts)Our mutt from the pound is chipped and she's worth about $20 on the open market.
Of course, she's priceless to us, thus the chip.

(30,540 posts)too many people looking for those dogs being caught with them then being charged with attempted murder ... they had to get rid of them fast.

(30,540 posts)I have admit it's strange they almost killed the dog walker but didn't harm the dogs. Thieves with a bit of conscience (???) seems unlikely, maybe once they're caught we'll find out.

(9,998 posts)They didn't want to harm the dogs, they probably had other motives, like selling them.
That option went out the window, once it became known who they belonged to.
Given that they might get caught, killing the dogs would only compound their problems. So they left them where they could be found. Hopefully it was in an area with camera footage, and it will help the police catch them faster. I will be surprised if they don't get caught.

Although its not like her dogs would look different than other dogs. But everyone was out looking for them.

(7,947 posts)The insurance companies will pay to have the art just returned. The thieves put it somewhere, and send a message where to find it.
The police don't get an arrest, but the stolen property is returned. The insurance company pays out less than they'd probably have to pay if the work wasn't returned.
I think probably some deal was worked out with the thieves. What that means about the attempted murder case, I don't know.

(4,986 posts)just that a woman turned them in to police. That article said it couldn't give details about the woman or why she had them..
Do you have a link?
