Has anyone published data on the percentage of Americans who become infected with Covid after two shots of Pfizer or Moderna, and whether the case is mild, requires hospitalization, or results in death?
There is some data out of Israel, but I haven't seen any from the US. The genetic diversity of the virus variants in the US may be greater than in Israel.

I suspect we will see the same here when enough people have been fully vaccinated
Another thing the Israel data seemed to show was that those vaccinated did not spread the virus

(18,402 posts)Throughout the pandemic, there has been perhaps nowhere more dangerous than a nursing home. The coronavirus has raced through some 31,000 long-term care facilities in the United States, killing more than 163,000 residents and employees and accounting for more than a third of all virus deaths since the late spring. ...
Since the arrival of vaccines, which were prioritized to long-term care facilities starting in late December, new cases and deaths in nursing homes, a large subset of long-term care facilities, have fallen steeply, outpacing national declines, according to a New York Times analysis of federal data. The turnaround is an encouraging sign for vaccine effectiveness and offers an early glimpse at what may be in store for the rest of the country, as more and more people get vaccinated.
From late December to early February, new cases among nursing home residents fell by more than 80 percent, nearly double the rate of improvement in the general population. The trendline for deaths was even more striking: Even as fatalities spiked over all this winter, deaths inside the facilities have fallen, decreasing by more than 65 percent.

(102,120 posts)Israel has provided our first glimpse of the latter for the Pfizer vaccine:
A large observational, real-world study from Israel estimates that the Pfizer/BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine is 46% effective at preventing infection 14 to 20 days after the first dose and 92% 7 days after the second dose, backing the results of an earlier randomized, controlled trial, according to a study today in the New England Journal of Medicine (NEJM).
A single dose, however, was 74% effective against COVID-related hospitalization and 72% effective at preventing death.
