I can't think of a downside to raising families out of poverty.

(17,757 posts)In this country it is sinful that someone can work forty hours a week and not have a chance of escaping poverty or existing without public support. The productivity of those who clerk at the grocery store, or clean the restrooms at McDonalds is all siphoned off to the very richest people in the country. It is theft, it is immoral and it has to be stopped.
It will be inflationary, it will cost us all something, but it is something we must do. The fucking wealthy shouldn't be so hard against it, they will receive the benefit of the extra spending. Some people are not satisfied being wealthy unless others are downtrodden.
I just had an online discussion with someone that I grew up with. He retired early on Workers Compensation. I know where he came from, I know the jobs he had, I know how much of his career he spent on unemployment compensation, I know the job his wife has, but he is militantly against a minimum wage for others. He is one of those people who probably maxed out his "career" at under $15.00 per hour and finds it insulting that someone less skilled then he could get such a fabulous wage. Worst of all, he is afraid that it will go to people of color.
He is a true, modern hateful, spiteful Trump Republican.

I still think trump's huge tax cuts to billionaires needs to be rescinded. That would go a long way to paying for regular people to eat and pay their rent.
